One of the exciting aspects of Rabbit Hole is how little you can trust what the protagonist says (or anyone else, for that matter) in this Kiefer Sutherland-led drama. In another stellar episode, John reveals he has lied to Hailey (Meta Golding) that his team did not die a firey death during the bombing of his office building.
In turn, Hailey lied to him about a critical issue when she quit her previous job, where she stole a lot of money from land development and turned it into 26 million dollars. Combined with a nice touch of comic relief from Sutherland, this Paramount+ series is becoming appointment television.
Here’s what happened in Rabbit Hole Season 1, Episode 4:
- John and Ben discovered that Valence was buying up NFTs and trading with a hedge fund manager named Gow. Eddie informs them this is a way of laundering money or illegal goods.
- John sends Hailey to Gow’s office to apply pressure and learn about his dealings with Valence.
- Hailey sees her former boss she stole money from at Gow’s office, who has security detain her.
- Eddie, helping John from being apprehended, hits a security guard in the head, and he falls down the stairs, appearing to break his neck. John has no heart to tell him, so he says he is knocked out.
- Ben pretends to be Crowley to get Gow to spill information on their dealings. Gow tells Ben he never told the FBI about the “Intaverse,” the ledger, and that his money is not offshore, but he is concealing it from the Treasury Department here.
- We find out the real Crowley knows Ben.
- When the team escapes, John lets it slip that his team is still alive.
- The “Intaverse” is a web media company that owns a website called Get Together, where people have consensual affairs.

Episode 5 will be released on Paramount+ on Sunday, April 16th, 2023, at 3:00 a.m. ET. The title and runtime of Episode 5 are unknown at the time of this article’s publication.

Predictions
- Now that it’s revealed that John’s team is alive, what have they been doing? They must be gathering information John is feeding them to prepare for Crowley. I’m also guessing they have been hiding in another John Weir safehouse.
- I think “the intern” may have worked for John the entire time. (Even though I’ll admit, I have difficulty recognizing why John would have him throw Xander to his death).
- How does Crowley know Ben? Any chance Crowley is the man who escorted Ben out of his home when he covered up his death? How about a prediction? Maybe Crowley is a female and is John’s mother.
- The show (and the trailer, for that matter) mildly suggests that what is going on is a delusion in John’s head. While John briefly touched up mental health struggles in this episode (and in The Algorithms of Control), it’s hard to imagine this is a figment of his imagination. Why? How do you explain the Madi character acting independently of John in several scenes? Impossible unless Madi represents John’s subconscious and moral compass.
