We discuss whether there will be a Season 2 of the 2023 Netflix series Thicker Than Water and its renewed or canceled status.

The 2023 series Thicker Than Water is a French-language Netflix drama thriller. Created by Nawell Madani and Simon Jablonka, the eight-episode series tells the story of Fara, an up-and-coming TV journalist who is forced to risk everything to protect her brother.

Her life starts to spiral out of control just as she lands the dream job she has been working towards for years. But her loyalty to her brother, who is involved in some unscrupulous activity involving a hit and run and a burned-out car full of drugs, leads to a series of events threatening to change her life forever.

As the show’s title suggests, there is a strong theme of family and honor running through the show, and Fara and her three sisters, who are all from a Muslim family, find they have to work together to survive the events that unfold.

Crime, drama, drugs, and criminals are the ingredients that drive the main story, but there are plenty of smaller moments that focus on the everyday lives of the four women, which add depth and dimension to this show, elevating it to more than the sum of its parts.

With the show attracting some positive attention and receiving some great reviews for its acting and plot line, people have been left wondering about where the story goes from here, leading to the question, will there be a Season 2 of the Netflix show Thicker Than Water?

Netflix has not confirmed whether there will be a second season of this gripping show. The eight-episode series ends with a few open-ended plot lines, so there is plenty of scope for a second installment.

Fans of the show have praised the portrayal of the four leads, who find themselves having to act in unbelievable ways to protect themselves and their families. There are more nuanced layers to the story that confront other societal issues than the characters face.

Fara’s situation also leaves things open for a second season, which makes us think that the showrunners would be open to telling more stories about these characters.

Very well written and executed. I binged the first season and hope to see a follow up season 2. Too many unanswered questions of what took place in the end. Netflix, this is a must season 2.
