Season 2 of the Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne-led steampunk drama Carnival Row is approaching its final week. In the show’s world (which looks eerily similar to Victorian London despite being filmed in Prague), mythical creatures were forced to flee their home after the humans invaded. Refugees had to seek shelter in the city of The Burgue, where tensions between humans and the oppressed Fae were on the rise.
The series originally premiered way back in the summer of 2019. While critical response was mixed, fans loved the fantasy thriller and couldn’t wait to see more. The wait for season 2 was long, but so far, it seems to have been worth the wait. It tells a compelling story in an expertly crafted world that perfectly mirrors ours.
Will there be a Season 3 of Carnival Row – renewed or canceled status
Sadly, Carnival Row’s second season is also the final one. Prime Video confirmed the series’s cancellation before season 2’s premiere date. There will be no Season 3.
Back in 2019, Carnival Row was renewed for a second installment weeks before season one was released in its entirety on the streaming platform. The show’s creators, Travis Beacham and Marc Guggenheim were optimistically planning at least four seasons of their steam-punk project. But then 2020 happened. And production was halted in March of that year because of the pandemic. In addition to Covid complications, according to Orlando Bloom, “there were a lot of changes at the top of the food chain” that affected production, per Radio Times.
“I think COVID really put the brakes on everything. It was jarring and so the thinking was, there was a lot of love for the show in season 1 – and certainly Amazon was super supportive – but really, we had so much footage that we were able to take this world and bring it to a conclusion in a really great way,” he added.
On one hand, waiting for a brilliant show’s continuation only to find out it’s the finale is disappointing. But Cara Delevingne, who plays Vignette, sees it differently, “And the way that this show works is that it’s intense and it’s extreme and it’s honest, so the way that it ends is perfect. If you drag it out, you wouldn’t really know where the story goes, and it ends in such a perfect way. I think fans will be very, very excited to see that,” she noted in a recent interview with Collider.
READ: TV Shows like Carnival Row you must watch
We do live in an era of revivals and reboots, so I wouldn’t completely rule out the possibility of one day returning to The Burgue to catch up with Carnival Row residents.
Why is Carnival Row Canceled?
There is no clear reason why Carnival Row has been canceled on Prime Video. However, speculation suggests that the Covid-19 pandemic was a factor. The delays to the production of Season 2, and the spiraling costs, were likely reasons for the series not being renewed for Season 3.
Why did Carnival Row end so abruptly?
Again, there’s been no apparent reasons for the cancellation. Despite a fanbase, complications that arose with production during the Covid-19 pandemic led to the show ending abruptly. However, fans will be pleased that there was a conclusion to the story.
Just finished watching the last episode of Season 2 of this fabulous show. After reading the comments from Bloom and Delevingne all I can say is…B*LLS**T. To say this ended perfectly when it is obvious that it was set up for season 3 is, well, maddening. It makes me angry at the two of them and Amazon too. What a waste of time.
I have one message to all three of them: Next time you’re reading a book you are really enjoying, half way through it, close the book and throw it away. There’s your identically perfect way to end it.
Awh PLEASE bring out more Carnival Row. Takes me away from all the real ____ I life. Love it. Please please continue
B#[email protected]….
Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger, what happens to the creature or who is it??. There’s so many unfinished stories lines, they all finish on cliffhangers.. “perfect ended” my a$$, who you trying to fool..
This series can offer so much more and can defs be bigger then what you gave.. this is infuriating..
Just bring it back for 2 more season so that we can see what the creators envisioned!
Episode 9 and 10 has not yet been released of season 2. Give it a chance.
People chill.
Season 2 still has 2 more episodes that will be released on March 17th.
SEASON 4 PLEASE!!!!
This series has been fabulously enjoyable. Fantastic storytelling! I put it right up there with GOT. But to end after 2 seasons is just terriblly disappointing. Please continue 1 or 2 more seaons to wrap it up properly.
Please continue this series!! It’s been great and would love to see it return!
Why should we pay for a prime prescription when what we are paying for is cut short, maybe they will be happy to give us a refund.
There are so many more stories to complete
Very disappointed to find that it ends so abruptly. Right from the start I was hooked. Wish there was a way for us to enjoy it until season 4. I agree I would rank it up with GOT.
Please reconsider and do a Season 3. I have really enjoyed this series.
Cara, Orlando, and Amazon, finish this series. I put it on and I watched both season 1 season a night, I couldn’t shut it off, right when I started getting bored, new twist, chanclor is dead at it revived, and I’m hooked again. Don’t be the team that makes a Fantastic series and quits have way through. Go all 4. Please.
Same here. Loving it! ?? Bring on a Season 3. Try #Hulu or #Netflix to pick it up. Please. Thank you.
I’m so tired of these great series coming to an end after just a few seasons. Carnival Row had so much more to offer, but again, the creators fell short on their abilities to see and realize that. I will no longer watch series that end after just a few seasons.
There is sooo much more of the stroy to be told….especially after watching episode 10 of season 2!!! BRING BACK CARNIVAL ROW FOR SEASONS 3 AND 4!!!!!!!
Just finished watching the “epic finale”. It was no finale. There are too many loose ends. Loved this show. To do it justice two more seasons would wrap it up.
Thank you for the 2 seasons of Carnival Row ,
thank you for the beautiful fantasy story with lot of parallels with ours ,
thank you for these beautiful production and post production
thank you for the work and quality of the theatrical costumes and the playing of the actors .
I enjoy it a lot
I can unterstand the economical reasons of the ends of the series during pandemia Covid ( the additional costs and lost and difficulties )
And Like many other people I ‘m sad and I ‘m hoping for new season
At last! A good series that ends, instead of gliding down in questionable / artificial expanse.
Am I sad it lasted only two seasons? Yes, definitely.
Am I glad it completed the story arc and had a beautiful end that felt natural? Yes, absolutely, as well.
We are so tired of artificially prolonged successful series that all they do is cash out the good story untill there’s nothing left to remember. Two or three seasons of a complete story is the best anyone can ask for.
However, I ‘d surely love to see a spin off, with new characters and some of the old ones. Carnival Row’s universe is an interesting one. We could see other cities, other stories mixing with the one(s) we have seen in this show.
What the heck??? This is one of the best shows on Prime Video. Why not renew for several more seasons.. I’m sick of of this company making stupid decisions. I will stop streaming their network.

No… no… no….!
I want more!!!
Great show. There’s no reason for this to be canceled. Hope they reconsider
I am so sad it has ended. can we at least do a different series based on this. breaks my heart
So disappointed that they chose to cancel the show. I really enjoyed it an have told others about it also.
Not really sure what drives decisions for renewal. I know this show has a strong fan base and viewers so why was it compressed and cancelled when others linger forever? Please release an honest number system we can all understand on ranking shows. Thank you.
Great shows like Carnival Row need more consideration when it comes to cancellation practices. GOT finished their series. Weird as it was but they got the chance to complete what they started. This series deserves the same consideration. It’s more than just a bottom line.
I can’t believe that show was canceled.
It was incredibly well done. You also get attached to the characters. It’s almost an insult to the viewers to cancel the show. That’s a shame..
Please bring this series back It seems like every company does this. They only make two seasons and it’s something people really enjoy and then the in the season. I may be wrong but I heard most of these series comes off of books and I know it’s more than two books they have. I just wish they were really bring back this and other things they made but this was a great series so why end it on the season 2. when you have people begging you to bring it back. It didn’t end on a good note. There’s so many more storylines that are still needs to be finished
