Perry Mason has been a literary and TV icon for the last century, but his prestige makeover on HBO in 2020 was a new look for the character, bringing with it a new backstory, tone, and format. With handsome period production and a season-long mystery, not to mention an overabundance of HBO’s trademark adults-only grit, the first season was a compelling and well-acted mystery and we’re back for more in the anticipated sophomore outing.
Here’s what happened in Perry Mason Season 2 Episode 6:
- Holcomb, to avoid having to testify, made a deal with Perry to take him to a beach where a great deal of McCutcheon produce had washed up, drenched in oil. Neither man knows exactly what this means but it’ll surely come to matter down the line.
- In exchange for agreeing to meet with him, Perry had Holcomb produce Noreen Lawson’s medical records, which revealed she had been strangled by Brooks McCutcheon’s monogrammed belt.
- Della revealed this in court during her cross-examination of Noreen’s brother, Councilman Taylor.
- The ominous display of Ozzie Jackson’s shoes was used to imply his death, which Paul didn’t take well at all.
- We learned that it was Pete Strickland who broke into Perry’s apartment last week. We can also surmise he broke into Perry’s office and discovered the murder weapon in his safe, which was leaked to the prosecution.
- The gun in Perry’s safe was discovered, and pending ballistic examination, it may turn the whole case on its head.
