Beginning life on the now-defunct DC Universe streaming platform, Titans began as a very controversial proposition — a deliberately edgy take on DC’s teeny-bopper super-team infamously marketed around Dick Grayson saying “F*ck Batman” in the trailer — but has since cemented its identity as a very decent and rather unconventional series. The third season, which was housed on HBO Max, dealt with everything from a murderous Batman to a pot-smoking Scarecrow to the literal afterlife, and the fourth season seems intent to top even that by pivoting rather explicitly into horror territory and working through a story involving the sinister, otherworldly Church of Blood.
Here’s what happened in Titans Season 4 Episode 7 and Episode 8:
- This was a two-part arc set mostly in Caul’s Folly, an interdimensional bank vault for a magical artifact necessary for Trigon’s return.
- The Titans were able to track down Caul’s Folly with help from Lex Luthor, who left a letter for Conner and a book of alien directions in a LexCorp storage box under the floor of Mother Mayhem’s lair.
- Caul’s Folly brainwashed its citizens and kept them in a constant state of suburban mundanity through the use of music and implanted receivers connected directly to their brains.
- Mother Mayhem and Sebastian were able to retrieve the horn that will herald Trigon’s return.
- Dick, Kory, and Rachel worked with a waitress named Megan and her father, both deaf residents of Caul’s Folly, to destroy the broadcast station pumping out the music and free the former mining town from its thrall.
