Will Suzume be on Netflix? We discuss if the Japanese animated film will be streaming anywhere and where to watch it.

Suzume is a Japanese anime fantasy-adventure film directed by Makoto Shinkai. Released on April 14, 2023, the film follows the title character, a 17-year-old girl who faces disaster in Japan.

She finds that mysterious doors all over the country have been opening and releasing calamities, threatening to destroy the planet. Since Suzume can see supernatural forces and others cannot, the fate of Japan depends on her ability to close the doors.

Suzume has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (April 18, 2023). It received praise from critics for its coming-of-age trope, creativity, and visual appeal. Since the film is wildly popular, many fans wonder if Suzume will be available on any streaming services.

Will Suzume be on Netflix?

There have been no reports from Netflix that Suzume will be a new addition. However, it could potentially release on the streaming service further in the future.

Will Suzume be on HBO Max?

Suzume will not be on HBO Max because it is not a Warner Bros. film.

Where to watch the movie Suzume

Right now, the only place to watch Suzume is in theaters. However, it may be available on Crunchyroll soon. Outlook India reports that the film is being internationally distributed by Crunchyroll with Sony.

Since the streaming service holds the rights to the film, that is probably where Suzume will land sometime this year.

When will Suzume be on streaming?

Crunchyroll announced the global theatrical dates for Suzume back in December. The film’s theatrical release began on April 12, 2023, and it is available in France, Malta, and Switzerland. It is still in the process of being released to theaters in other countries and will culminate with its release in the Czech Republic on May 26.

Based on this information, Suzume won’t be on streaming services for a while since it’s in its theatrical run. However, the most likely place it will end up is Crunchyroll.

Generally, it takes at least 45 days for a film to be available on streaming services after its theatrical release. Since Suzume began playing in theaters on April 12, it could land on streaming services as early as May. However, this is not guaranteed, and the release could be even later.
