We discuss ten games like Cult of the Lamb that you must play. Add these well-recommended games to your gaming library.

Cult of the Lamb is a title that ties two styles together. Players must beat bosses and gather resources and a base-building experience where players can rest between runs and manage their growing cult. Released in 2022 by Massive Monster, this game was well-received by critics and gamers alike.

If players liked the mix offered, then there are plenty of demonic-inspired roguelikes out there, and base building and resource management are well-trod areas in gaming. Here are ten games like Cult of the Lamb you must play.

10 Games like Cult of the Lamb

A Hat in Time (2017)

A 3-D platformer featuring a girl making several hats with different powers to try and get home. While on her way, she’s interrupted by a Mafia boss who wants to collect a fee from her when she passes over his planet, and the timepieces fuelling her ship are lost. What follows is a journey to gather the pieces.

Monster Train (2020)

A roguelike deck builder, players must survive nine levels on a train going straight to hell. There is also a multiplayer component for players who want to drag their friends to the underworld with them.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons (2020)

It might seem a bit weird to put Animal Crossing: New Horizons on this list, given the tone differences, but hear us out. Players must build up their island home, do tasks and talk to townspeople. This isn’t far from the cult-building mechanics of Cult of Lamb, with players managing their cult, building a base, and their religion.

Inscryption (2021)

Another card-based roguelike, Inscryption, sees audiences sacrificing animals to summon more powerful creatures and leans into the psychological horror inherent to building a cult and sacrificing members when the time is right.

Cuphead (2017)

A delightful art style helps set Cuphead apart from its competition, and its tough-as-nails boss fights runs, and gun platforming. The boss fights are extremely unique, with morphing foes changing into even more terrifying forms. Players fight these bosses after making a deal with the dastardly devil, who wants their souls.

Vampire Survivors (2022)

In a gothic game where hordes of enemies flood the screen, a simple choice can let the difficulty snowball before players know it. With the gold players get transferring from run to run, gamers can survive the hundreds of enemies coming at them just that little bit longer.

Honey, I Joined a Cult (2022)

Another game that taps into the cult-building mechanics, Honey I Joined a Cult sees players manage all the important aspects of one, their base, the cultists, resources, and most importantly, their faith. Will you be a benevolent God or a tyrant?

Dead Cells (2018)

Set in an ever-changing castle, Dead Cells has players attempting to escape. But each death will send them back to the beginning, so gamers will have to hone their skills over multiple runs to free themselves successfully. With Metroidvania elements, there is a lot to find and do, assuming you can beat the guards.

Don’t Starve (2013)

Throwing players into a strange world with dangerous creatures and surprises, they must survive this harsh environment. Using science and magic, gamers can craft resources and spells to match their style, all while preparing for the eventual escape. If players don’t like the uncompromising land they’re dropped into, at any time, they can generate a new map for endless replayability.

Spiritfarer (2020)

As the name suggests, players have to build a ship to ferry the souls of the dead to the afterlife. With a more relaxing tone than some of the other games on this list, gamers will learn how to say goodbye to those they’ve become attached to on their journey for a title with a thought-provoking message.
