School Spirits is a Paramount+ series that kicked off on March 9, 2023. The series follows Maddie, a high school kid who recently passed away and is stuck in the afterlife. One of the things that she is unsure of is how she died.
So with the help of her new friends in the afterlife and her best friend in her life Simon, she uncovers the mystery of who killed her and how.
I didn’t have many expectations heading into covering this series. I wasn’t familiar with Peyton List and wasn’t sure if it would lean more toward a more teenager style of show or be geared toward a little of both.
However, I walked away from this series a massive fan of List, and I can’t wait to see more of her work. Outside of List, I give plenty of credit to the writers of this series for keeping you guessing at every turn.
It felt like every time we closed in on a killer. They had another trick up their sleeves.
Will there be a Season 2 of School Spirits – renewed or canceled status
At the time of writing, School Spirits has not been renewed for a second season.
If I were a betting man, I would put a lot of money on Paramount+ renewing this for a second season. There are several reasons why I think this.
First, the series is loved by critics and audiences as it sits at 80% and 93%, respectively, on Rotten Tomatoes (as of April 7, 2023). That is an impressive score on both sides.
Second, Peyton List is a star, with over 20.8 million followers on Instagram, and with the incredible performance she gives on the show, Paramount would be crazy not to try to lock her in for another season.
Finally, the thing in its favor is the show is based on a book, and I would imagine the writers have an idea of where they would like to go for another book and/or season.
Now without going into spoilers, where could season 2 of School Spirits go? I have a few ideas of where they could go with the show kicking off with possibly another kid dying at the school. With that, you could have Maddie help them discover the truth by investigating it, and that would also be a reason to include Simon on the show, bringing him back to help Maddie with the “real” people aspect of solving the murder.
Another route the series could go is Maddie adapting to her new life in the afterlife and her struggle with it all. Something along the lines of her understanding that her life will never be the same again.
Also, maybe we can explore this “afterlife” a little more and understand that. Either way, I want a season two of School Spirits, and I hope we get an announcement soon.
School Spirits Season 2 Release Date
Paramount+ have not made a decision yet on the renewal of School Spirits. However, we do not believe the production for a second season will be taxing, and we could see the series return in early 2024.
How many seasons of School Spirits are there?
At the moment, there is only one season of School Spirits. However, there is definitely plenty more story to tell. Paramount+ could easily make at least two seasons of School Spirits with the scope of this story.
I really hope there is a second season!! This show takes so many twists and turns you just can’t stop watching!
I think I saw Peyton List as a producer for the show so I think she’ll make sure there’s a Season 2. I love the show as was bummed to realize episode 7 was the last one for Season 1. Love the idea of a someone new “joining the support group”, maybe even one of the main characters this season….
I also think there will be a season 2. Each episode keeps one in suspense of what will happen next, especially since Maddie and Simons friend is starting to look like a suspect
There better be a season.2 . Can’t get fans hooked on a show to not renew for another season.

what would be better having maddie is for her to get her body back and she comes back to her real life and send that Janice spirit back to where she belongs..
I really want to see another season. If it doesn’t continue I will never watch another series until it has been established for 3-4 seasons
Peyton Lust already has a pretty established career. She’s a regular, important character on Cobra Kai. Before that she was a popular, regular on the series Bunk’d. She has been in over 60 films and tv shows. She’s not a newcomer by any means.
I agree there needs to be another season of School Spirits. I would be annoyed if there wasn’t. The way Episode 8 (Not 7 Linda R.), ended it is to much of a cliffhanger not to have one. There would have to be an explanation on how Janet got into Maddie’s body. Víctor F. Rodríguez called her Janice in his comment. I’ve heard that the characters name was Janet. That’s what the character Wally called her. As far as one of the main characters joining the “Support Group”, that maybe Xavier. He did go in an ambulance and get rushed to the hospital. Then there’s the leader of the “Support Group” the teacher that died in a fire in the 1950’s (I think it was 1959), what’s the real story on him. Plus, Janet lied about how she died. So, there needs to be a Season Two.
Please make another season!!! I cant take it!!! So many really good shows ending after just one season, not to be brought back really makes me mad!!

There better be a season 2! Way too many cliffhangers. Having Xavier go to the other side would be great for many reasons. Wally would be jealous for one, Xavier would have to explain his cheating bs etc etc. I’m wondering why there are so many teacher/student relationships? Does it mean something. But mostly how and why did Janet take over her body? To get away from Mr Martin, or they have a plan to both become “living” again together. Lol my mind is racing with possibilities!!
Thus showing was amazing and written so well. The actors were all superior and should be recognized.

Please renew ! Too many cliffhangers to stop after just 8. I have always followed Peyton list and seen her since she was on Jessie and then bunked , few disneychannel movies, another movies, cobra Kai: she was the reason I watched, and now this. She will make sure it does a season two
If the show gets another season it’ll be awhile. Plus, Peyton has to finish the final season of Cobra Kai first.
Me an my daughter loved this show it ended far too soon so many twists and turns guessing who did it completely didn’t see the ending coming we were both yelling at the tv there better be more it’s brilliantly done exceptional acting
I love this series ?? I hope there is more to come. I would like to see Maddie get her body back and everyone else find peace. There’s still things unfinished.
3 generations watch school spirits in our household. That hasn’t happened with a show in years. We love it!

Xavier can’t join the support group , as one commenter suggested, as he did not die at the school.

Janet didn’t take over Maddie’s body. Someone named “Jenny” did. When asked her name, she said “Jenny” first and the teacher spirit yelled “Dint jump her Jenny” Janet was still in the spirit world when Maddie arrived. If she had jumped into Maddie, she would not have been there. I would like to know who “Jenny “ is.

I’m a 70 year old lady didn’t think I’d watch ( teen stuff ) I started to watching, episode 8 ended I said oh no she buys bus ticket dang can’t wait for season 2 I’ve checked ever where to find it lolo
Absolutely love this series! Deborah, he said “Janet”, she even said it herself at the Bus station, there is no “Jenny”. Someone else said it was “Janice”, it’s 100% Janet, rewatch when they find her name in the article about the fire. Xavier cannot be apart of the show if he dies at the Hospital, you can only haunt wherever your die. Assuming there is a second season, it’s going to be 1 giant mess. Love triangle between Simon and Wally because Wally gets her if she stays dead, Simon gets her if he can get her back into her body and obviously other Ghosts will want to try swapping souls so that they can live again. Then there is the big issue of if Maddie gets her body back, she is going to have to answer for all the crimes Janet committed while using get body, and who is going to believe Maddie when she claims that it was a dead girl who kidnapped her body!? It’ll be awesome!!
Why make something and then don’t come out with a season two. You know a lot of people like this, and would like to see a season two come out I know I would.!!

My season 2 theory is that Maddie will get a chance to talk to Janet (once her friends track her down and bring her back to Split River). Maybe she’ll let Janet stay in her body to help look after her mom while she helps the other ghosts in the group cross over. Like how she helped Dawn cross over. Seeing the kind of person Maddie has become throughout the show it just sounds like something she would do. Maddie cares for others. I also hope to finally see Wally and Maddie become a couple, although it would be sad when they have to say their goodbyes when Wally crosses over. I really want to find out more about Mr. Martin and Janet. Who knew Mr. Martin would be the untrustworthy one? Great show!
After just finishing the last episode (8) of School Spirit I’m INVESTED there has to be more to the story, does maddie get her body back? how did Janet go into maddies body ? is maddies ex boyfriend okay? is he going to be in a coma and help maddie from the other side? I NEED MOREEEEEEEEE 10/10 best show I’ve watched in a long time and i’ll be real disappointed if they don’t continue on for a 2nd season.

When Maddie was alive and open the door and saw Mr. Martin and Janet, how was it that she could see them when she was up alive not dead
And what did the look on her face mean when she saw Mr. Martin when they warned her he can’t be trusted do you think that she remembered him and that’s how she died?

I sincerely hope there is a season 2. This is not just a show for teens. With all the plot twists & turns, I, a 72 yo woman, also looked forward from week to week the next episode.
I hope there will be a second and more seasons. The characters all work so well together. As a 68 yr old I loved this show, if was hard waiting on the next episode. Please bring this back for another season.
There needs to be a season to to at least finish the story! Terrible way to end it for all the fans who have enjoyed the series

We just realized that Maddie’s spirit is locked in another person’s body.. she’s out there, wandering around.. she could actually be rejoined in her body since it hasn’t been found yet…too much is still unanswered..
I agree with all those demanding a season 2. Really enjoyed this show-/all the actors, all the characters. I am also happy to see so many older fans. I am 71! I will be very upset with Patamount if there is not another season and may likely quit my subscription

I normally don’t write any networks or studios because they normally don’t listen, but this time I’m taking a chance. Please renew School Spirits, so we can find out get some more answers to season one and keep enjoying this paranormal mystery.
There had BETTER BE a Season 2 of School Spirits. I am hooked. Normally I do not watch a program until I can binge the entire thing but I made an exception with School Spirits. Waiting for Thursdays has made the week drag!! Now I find out there may not BE a Season 2! I had this happen on a British series one time and have never forgiven the BBC. BRING BACK SCHOOL SPIRITS!
Since Maddie isn’t really dead, the second season will take on a whole new feel and direction. Janet displaced her spirit, so how to get her back in her own body? And Mr. Martin clearly had knowledge of it so since he was apparently using all the ghosts as his science project, it seems he likely had a lot to do with Janet taking Maddie’s place.
There has to be a season 2!!

There has to be a season 2. Also, I don’t think Mr Martin intended for Janet to take over Maddie’s body because he told Janet not to move right before Janet jumped into Maddie. I think the only reason Janet was able to jump into Maddie in that spot was because the veil was thinnest in that spot because it was the first place in the school that a death had occurred. That’s why Maddie was able to talk to Simon in those certain places because those were the places that a death had happened and the veil was thin in those places.
I’m 70 too Faye. My kids don’t always understand why I watch what I do. Like Stranger Things. I watched it all. I would be so disappointed if they didn’t have at least one more season. They have done too many that way
My husband and I just watched the last episode of School Spirits. We taught middle school for 30 years, and we feel that the ending of the series was a ripoff. There needs to be a second season to tie up all the lose ends. Also, could the f-bombs be reduced? Unfortunately, we let them slip out on occasion as well, but several times an episode is a bit much. We’re glad the Lord’s name, the worst curse word to us since we are Christians, was used just once; however, we prefer it not be used at all. Kudos to Peyton List and a stellar group of actors. You all get an A+ from two retired school teachers.
I really hope there is at least a second season, as there are too many loose ends which need to be addressed. Love this show watched all eight episodes here in the UK was a real reason to subscribing to Paramount +.

This show really needs another major episode or a season to complete it. With what, happens to Maddie does she get her body back. . They could also make the ghosts more ghostly like walking through doors.
Will there be any more of “SCHOOL SPIRITS” on paramount plus OR ANY OTHER CHANNEL??!!? THAT’S THE BEST SHOW I’VE SEEN IN YEARS!!! And I don’t think they “SOLVED”any thing!!!! PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER SEASON!!!!!
