We discuss predictions for the Prime Video series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 Episode 5, including the release date and where to watch online.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel continues to explore Midge’s (Rachel Brosnahan) trials and tribulations in the TV talk show circuit as she vies for a role on the Gordon Ford Show.

An opportunity presents itself for Midge, and she jumps at the chance, despite many obstacles in her path. It’s another exquisitely written and acted installment featuring some stunning sixties settings.

Here’s what happened in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 Episode 4:

  • Frank and Nicky are producing an expo show and ask Susie if Midge will perform in one of their acts. Susie is told that this would be fulfilling a favor that she owes them. Midge tries to convince Midge to take the job, and she eventually agrees.
  • Everyone is still hungover after the party the night before. Midge and Gordon talk about the drunken incident. Gordon apologizes for trying to kiss Midge but then asks her out on a date anyway. Midge lists all the problems with this proposition, not least the fact Gordon is married. He implies it is an open marriage, but she still declines.
  • Midge performs at the expo show, narrating a musical about waste management. She reads from a script and wears a baggy garbage disposal outfit. The mob enforcers are happy with her performance.
  • Midge shows her fellow writers the awful script. It is bedlam at the offices. A comedic guest has pulled out last minute. Midge wonders if she can take the slot.
  • Abe and Rose argue about a play. Janusz and Zelda get engaged.
  • Midge offers her expertise for the show, but Gordon declines. He mentions their one golden rule. Writers do not perform on the show.
  • The stand-up comedian attends her second expo show performance, angered by the rejection. She performs terribly, almost ruining the whole show. Frank and Nicky threaten Susie, saying she owes them. They own her forever now.
  • Joel overhears the argument and asks Susie what his ex-wife is caught up in. Susie refuses to get into the specifics.
  • Mike manages to book Sophie Lennon last minute, and she is a hit on the show. Susie argues with Mike backstage about the golden rule. Mike refuses to fix this problem, though.
  • As she leaves the studio, Susie is followed by Gordon’s wife, Hedy. It appears these two have a history together. Hedy hurt Susie and broke many promises years ago. Susie is still evidently angered by the experience and walks away from Hedy.
