The more time Chise (Atsumi Tanezaki) spends at college, the more she seems to adjust, but that doesn’t mean things there are easy. With so much history she doesn’t know and families she’s never heard of, it can be hard to keep up with everyone and everything going on.
Luckily, people like Rian (Seiichiro Yamashita) have been around to help her navigate these new surroundings. Still, misunderstandings occur, but at least this one leads to Chise making several new friends and allies instead of enemies.
- Chise attempts to enter her dorm, only to hear her roommate Lucy arguing with someone over the phone. Lucy later scolds her for being timid, reminding Chise this is just as much her room as well.
- Later, Chise runs into Jasmine, who comments on Lucy’s attitude being a result of the Webster Tragedy, but then hesitates to say anything further.
- In the lunchroom, Chise and Rian run into Issac and Zoe. Although Zoe quickly runs off to avoid Chise, Isaac stays behind to introduce himself as a fellow classmate and Zoe’s tutor.
- According to Issac, the Seven Shields are the “seven distinguished families that founded the college.” They consist of the Saint George, Nightingale, Forsyth, Roseingrave, Rickenbacker, Hohenheim, and Scrimgeour families. Rian is a member of the Scimgeours.
- After Zoe ignores Chise, Lucy grows angry, removing his headphones.
- Zoe tries to claim that Chise is the monster they should be worried about, but then he transforms into a Gorgon and runs away. Zoe later reveals that he is only half gorgon.
- The group finds Zoe in the private gardens.
- Ruth catches Philomela spying on them.
- Rian then reveals he and Philomela are second cousins and then decides the only way to ensure they all stay quiet about Chise and Zoe is to use a contract spell.
- While Zoe apologizes to Chise for avoiding her, Lucy tells Philomela that she still does not trust her as her family died as a result of people like her.
- Rian confronts Jasmine for telling Chise about the Websters and says they should be more careful as a member of the Seven Shields family.
- The episode ends with Violet comforting his sister while suggesting they could always run away from their family if needed.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 Episode 6 Release Date and Time
Season 2, Episode 6, will be released on Crunchyroll on Thursday, May 11th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. ET. Episode 6 is titled “Better bend than break” and will have a run time of approximately 23 minutes.

Predictions
It seems my predictions didn’t pan out this week, though there’s still a chance, as Philomela is looking increasingly suspicious lately. That said, things are moving quite slowly, so it’s hard to get a good feel for just where the story is going.
- In the preview for next week, it looks like Chise is at home, where I have a feeling Joseph will confront her yet again. We still don’t know what exactly he wants from her, but I’m thinking he will reveal it this time.
