Drops of God continues to impress in “Foundation,” as viewers are shown essential flashback sequences that explore Alexandre (Stanley Weber), Marianne (Margaux Chatelier), Honoka (Makiko Watanabe), and Hirokazu’s (Satoshi Nikaido) shared history together.
This twist in itself opens up further shocking revelations that may have monumental repercussions within the show moving forward.
Here’s what happened in Drops of God Season 1 Episode 4:
- Issei and Camille finally get a chance to chat at a photo shoot. Issei didn’t even know that Alexandre had a daughter. They seem to antagonize one another playfully.
- Honoka realizes that Hirokazu has gone missing. She is sent his belongings in an envelope.
- In flashbacks, Honoka and Hirokazu traveled to France to visit Chassangre’s vineyard in 1990. Honoka flirts with Alexandre, who gives them a wine tour.
- In the present, Marianne is sent Alexandre’s ashes in the post. He apologizes to Marianne via a note and asks for his ashes to be scattered at Chassangre’s vineyard.
- In 1991, Alexandre and Marianne traveled to Tokyo for a new life. Alexandre feels like an outcast in the French wine industry and takes on an oenology teacher position at the Japanese University instead.
- They struggle to get by, but Alexandre’s course starts to become more popular, and Marianne gets a job at the French Embassy.
- Back in the present, Issei confronts Honoka about the past. She knew Alexandre but kept it a secret. Honoka downplays their relationship. She also keeps Hirokazu’s situation a secret from her son.
- Alexandre takes his students to a wine bar after hours. He flirts with Honoka. Hirokazu grows jealous and gets drunk. His drunken antics lead to Alexandre being fired.
- Marianne urges Alexandre to write a wine guide, and they deal with the publisher Jacques Fusier.
- Honoka and Alexandre start an affair. Marianne becomes pregnant, and Honoka follows soon after. Both Camille and Issei are born within days of each other.
- In the present, Honoka looks through old photographs. Marianne hides Alexandre’s ashes. Issei and Camille meet in a lift.

- Issei has started to dig a little deeper into his parent’s past. He will grow suspicious of his own mother and her lies. He may even take a DNA test to find out the truth. I believe Alexandre is his father. Let’s see if this possible twist becomes a reality.
- Hirokazu’s body will be discovered. The family will try to keep his suicide a secret from the press. Issei will be devastated by the death, blaming himself. Honoka may admit that Hirokazu wasn’t actually his father.
- Camille and Issei will meet for the next challenge. Camille will rely on Thomas for his expertise in the next round of the competition. Their budding romance will continue to grow.
