Hannah’s (Jennifer Garner) and Bailey’s (Angourie Rice) amateur investigation leads them into gangster territory as they uncover more of Owen’s murky past in “The Never Dry.”
This installment follows the dynamic duo as they head for a mystery bar and uncover both of Bailey’s parents’ real identities. Meanwhile, Grady (Augusto Aguilera) tries to track the runaways down, and Jules (Aisha Tyler) makes a troubling discovery.
The series continues to peddle the many cliches of the genre yet manages to evoke some genuine tension and a real threat of danger this time around. Here’s what happened in The Last Thing He Told Me Season 1, Episode 5:
- Bailey is sure that Katherine Smith is her mother, and she pressures Hannah into following up on this discovery at a family-owned bar called The Never Dry.
- On their way to this bar, they research Charlie Smith and Andrea Reyes, the couple that got married at the Texan wedding Bailey attended as a child. Charlie owns The Never Dry now, but he is single.
- Hannah asks Bailey to search through the list of names elsewhere while she investigates the bar alone. Hannah talks with Charlie, asking many questions and lying about her circumstances.
- Grady searches for Hannah and Bailey. He is sent Owen’s phone in the post. Owen clearly wants to prove his innocence.
- Charlie mentions his sister dying in a car accident. He freaks out when Hannah shows him a photo of Owen. Bailey enters the bar to find Charlie shouting at Hannah. Charlie recognizes Bailey and calls her Kristin. Hannah and Bailey run, and Charlie chases after them.
- At a bridge, Bailey has a memory of Owen, Katherine, Charlie, and Andrea, all being together here. She is certain that Katherine was her mother. Bailey also believes that she was once called Kristin.
- They head back to the hotel for safety. Jules calls with information on Owen. His real name is Ethan Young. He was married to Katherine. His father-in-law is a mob lawyer called Nicholas Bell, who works for the Campano crime family. When Katherine died in suspicious circumstances, Owen testified against Nicholas and the Campanos.
- Hannah is told to run. She smashes her phone but finds Bailey has disappeared.
- Grady tracks them down to the hotel and finds Hannah. Together they search for Bailey.
- Charlie phones his dad (Nicholas Bell), informing him that he saw Kristin today.
The Last Thing He Told Me Season 1 Episode 6 Release Date and Time
Episode 6 will be released on Apple TV+ on Friday, May 12th, 2023, at midnight PT. Episode 6 is titled “When We Were Young” and will have a run time of 39 minutes.

Predictions
- I wouldn’t be surprised if Charlie and his men get to Bailey before Hannah and Grady do. Bailey’s life is in danger, and she won’t last very long out there, alone on the streets of Austin.
- Hannah and Grady will search for Bailey and return to the US Marshal’s office after failing to find her that night. Grady will update Hannah on everything they have on Owen, explaining his history with Nicholas and the Campanos.
- Grady will offer Hannah and Bailey a place in witness protection until Owen is found.
- Together they will hunt for Bailey, who may have been kidnapped. Will the bad guys use this as leverage to get Owen arrested?
