Where was The Mother on Netflix filmed? We discuss the popular Netflix filming and its many filming locations.

It can often be hard to find the correct work-life balance.

For things to work, you have to be able to make sure that your work life, and your personal life, are given the proper attention, with priority being given to the events that need to be addressed, without compromising or ignoring the other elements in your life at the same time.

I imagine this can be tricky, especially if you are a violent hard-edged combat veteran assassin and a mum.

Jennifer Lopez has had an awkward affair with film, you might remember her from such films as My Family, Selena, and Out of Sight, or you might not, but this latest vehicle, not theatrically released, although it could have been, is a fast-paced thriller, and Lopez does seem to enjoy this role.

However, elsewhere on this very site, you will be able to read about the plot. Lopez is attacked after escaping hiding to save her daughter, whom she has never met. If you are a fan of the film, you will want some information about the production, so this brutally frank article is here to answer the question, where was the Netflix movie The Mother filmed?

Where was The Mother on Netflix filmed – a breakdown of filming locations

Vancouver, British Columbia

There was a delay in production for the movie, as once again, the Covid pandemic would shut the film down, as it did for so many others, for a while. The wheels started rolling in October 2021 and ground to a halt like everything else before getting back on track again in February 2022.

The first filming block started in and around Vancouver. Many neighborhoods in the city’s Downtown area were used for key scenes. Cast and crew were caught shooting near Victory Square and an EasyPark lot.

Several outdoor locations, including some well-known landmarks in the area, were used.

Look for the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, the Vancouver Tool Library, the Vancouver Maritime Museum, Vancouver Public Library, and the H. R. MacMillan Space Centre.

Smithers, British Columbia

Smithers is a small town in British Columbia that was used for a few scenes in the movie. Although the film is mainly set in Cuba and Alaska, it will surprise you that they didn’t film there.

With a population of around six thousand, Smithers is a very small location and provides service coverage for Bulkley Valley.

If you check out J-Lo’s Insta page, there’s a snowy upload of her taken at this location as she prepares to head home for Thanksgiving, and it looks very cold, with this small town no doubt doubling for the Alaskan scenes.

Canary Islands, Spain

This film has a lot of globe-trotting scenes, so the production team and director had to be on the ball to find the correct locations that would sell the idea of a globe-trotting adventure. In later production blocks, they would source Spain’s Canary Islands, mainly the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, or simply Las Palmas, which was used to double for the city of Havana.

The crew made a base in and around Literary Cabinet at Pl. de Carrasco, 1, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which doubled for a casino.

A southern part of the island was used for the party scene at the villa.
