Back for its fourth and probably final season, HBO‘s gargantuan mega-hit Succession remains in exquisite form. The hysterical but terrifying drama, about a deeply dysfunctional media family and their attempts to ruin one another, is as much a skewering of old money as it is of new media, and the show has remained a critical darling and a fan favorite since its debut in 2018.
Here’s what happened in Succession Season 4 Episode 9:
- On the day of Logan’s funeral — the day after ATN called the presidential election early in favor of Jeryd Mencken — there are riots breaking out in the streets.
- Kendall’s wife takes their kids out of the city rather than attend the funeral, for their own safety, which Kendall is furious about.
- Jess also plans to change jobs, which Kendall is equally furious about.
- Some familiar faces, including Caroline and Ewan, are present for Logan’s funeral. Matsson is also there, as is Mencken.
- Roman has an entire eulogy prepared and rehearsed but he immediately breaks down when he tries to read it out.
- Ewan, Kendall, and Shiv all give speeches about their father’s complicated legacy.
- Shiv and Matsson talk Mencken into not stopping the GoJo deal as long as they install an American CEO.
- Roman runs out into the crowds and protestors and antagonizes them until he’s attacked and trampled.
