Platonic is an Apple TV+ dramedy starring Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen, and is equal parts Neighbors, in which Byrne and Rogen played a married couple, When Harry Met Sally, the long-time rubric for when friendships are overwhelmed by potential benefits, and a surprisingly nuanced exploration of that existential terror which comes with early middle age.
Here’s what happened in Platonic Season 1 Episode 5:
- Will is still seeing Peyton and things are going well, though he hasn’t told Sylvia about her yet.
- After Charlie comes home to find Sylvia happily bleaching Will’s hair, he begins to worry about their relationship. To compensate, he invites Will to the L.A. Dodgers game with her work mates, including Stewart.
- Will finds the invitation weird but accepts anyway. He and Charlie get very drunk and have a good time, but Will realizes that Charlie’s colleagues refer to Will as Charlier’s “wife’s boyfriend.”
- After the game, everyone goes to the Lucky Penny, and Charlie invites Sylvia.
- Everyone has a good time until Charlie lets slip about Peyton. Sylvia gets offended because Will didn’t mention it to her. Will counters by revealing that Charlie and his workmates call Will his wife’s boyfriend. It also gets revealed that Sylvia took ketamine.
- Will falls over behind the bar and slices an artery open with glass. Charlie tends to him heroically. When he and Sylvia go home they have made some progress in their relationship, and Will spends the night with Peyton.
Platonic Season 1 Episode 5 Release Date and Time
Episode 6 will be released on Apple TV+ on June 14, 2023, at 3 am EST. Episode 5 is titled “The Big Two Six” and will have a run time of 33 minutes.
