When will Haunted Mansion be on Disney+? We speculate when the Disney film will be released on their streaming service.
Haunted Mansion is the 2023 film from Disney that tempted box office fate by releasing one week after the ‘Barbenheimer’ phenomenon in the USA. The film swapped release dates with The Marvels, as it was originally scheduled in the November 10 slot, but Disney pulled Haunted Mansion forward to accommodate the Marvel film’s delay.
It features an all-star cast with Jared Leto, Jamie Lee Curtis, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, and Winona Ryder, to name a few.
This is the second film to be based on the Disney theme park ride The Haunted Mansion, following The Haunted Mansion, which was released in 2003.
The 2023 iteration follows Gabbie (Dawson) and her son Travis (Chase W. Dillon) as they recruit a team of spectral hunters to remove the ghosts living in their home.
When will Haunted Mansion be on Disney+?
Disney hasn’t released a date for when Haunted Mansion will be released on the streaming service, but it likely won’t be for a few months. This is because Disney will want to get as much money theatrically as possible to cover the film’s budget, something that isn’t possible on streaming services.
A logical guess for when the film might appear on streaming services would be around September 8-10 because this is when D23 2023 will be held, which is the event that Disney celebrates its founding, which happened in 1923.
Last year, Disney released new films on Disney+ for D23, including recent cinematic releases. If Haunted Mansion comes to Disney+ on September 8, audiences will only have to wait 42 days or less in other markets where the film releases later, like the UK.
Haunted Mansion is a spooky-themed film, so Disney might wait until Halloween to give it a Disney+ release. If this is the case, audiences will have to wait 95 days until October 31st. This could be what happens because it doesn’t release in some other markets until later on, and Disney might want to give the film a chance to do well.
How long does it take Disney films to come to Disney+?
Disney films don’t have a set schedule for when they come from cinemas to Disney+. Strange Worlds took 30 days to arrive on the service after its cinematic release, but Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania took 90 days to arrive on the platform after it was released in US cinemas.
The best comparison to Haunted Mansion, however, is Thor: Love and Thunder. It was released in US cinemas on July 8 and arrived on Disney+ 62 days later on September 8, as part of D23 2022.
Disney could follow a similar model and release Haunted Mansion as part of the celebrations.
Another comparison worth keeping in mind is Lightyear. It was released in the US on June 17 and released on Disney+ 47 days later.
How long a film takes to come to the streaming platform also depends on the box office. If Haunted Mansion does well, then Disney will likely hold off on putting it onto streaming to extend its box office potential.
Will Haunted Mansion be on Netflix?
As Haunted Mansion is a Disney release, the film will not appear on Netflix. Only in a very unlikely scenario would this happen because Disney has their streaming service, Disney+.
