Originally a TV series, then making a leap into a movie version, the epically titled Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie is an animated superhero film, complete with some musical numbers, and directed and co-written by Jeremy Zag.
You don’t see many French animated superhero musicals, but this particular entry has made the transition from TV to movie with ease, delighting fans along the way.
The story itself is pretty much the usual superhero fare, with Ladybug and Cat Noir, who are actually two teenagers from Paris, that lead double lives as the titular heroes and wage war against a rogues gallery that causes havoc in the city.
All good heroes need an arch nemesis, and in this case, it is the villainous Hawk Moth who has a tragic backstory that motivates his actions.
The film had a limited theatrical release before arriving on Netflix and has had some mixed reviews.
The animation and set pieces seem to have pleased fans, but the main points of contention seem to be in the plot of the movie. There has been some criticism leveled at the musical numbers, but I guess you can’t please everyone.
The film acts as an origin story for the characters and has an IMDB rating of 6.4/10 (July 30th, 2023). The real question we are about to answer is, will there be a Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie 2?

The film was announced in 2018, and work on the project kicked off in 2019, so it has taken a while to finally get to our screens, but we have to factor in the Covid pandemic that would have put the film on the shelf for a while. However, the good news is that there has been a confirmation of another movie version of the property being released, so it looks like the studio is aiming for a 2026 release date.
An article in The Economic Times reported the release date but could not pinpoint the exact month, but it does appear that the sequel is already in production and work is ongoing.

With the original cast from the TV series also in the movie version, it is a safe bet to assume that the studio will do its best to keep them on board for the film’s sequel.
Expect Annouck Hautbois as Marinette, Benjamin Bollen as Adrien, and Antoine Tome as Gabriel, among others.
What could Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie 2 be about?
At the time of writing, there have been no leaks about the plot of another movie, but we imagine that there will be plenty of adventures in place for our heroes, and if we follow the usual tropes in superhero movies, we imagine there could be some new villains involved and possibly some character advancement for our leads.
