Justified: City Primeval is an FX adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit, and an eight-years-later revival of the original Justified, one of the greatest TV shows of all time.
Whether this was ill-advised or right on time remains to be seen, however, Timothy Olyphant has slipped back into the stetson like he never took it off. With a new case to solve in a new city full of cops and robbers, Raylan Givens, for better or worse, is back.
Here’s where we’re at after Justified: City Primeval Season 1 Episode 4:
- It turns out Clement maimed Skender by crushing his leg in his saferoom door, earning him the ire of the entire Albanian mob.
- Raylan and Norbert try to negotiate with the Albanian boss, Toma, but Norbert deliberately drops Clement’s name so that the Albanians can go after him and hopefully do the police’s job for them.
- The Albanians lean on Carolyn and try to lure Sandy into an ambush by pulling out her roommate’s teeth. Raylan and Norbert interrupt the torture, and Norbert shoots one of the Albanians dead.
- Clement is able to win back Sweetie’s loyalty by revealing the existence of Judge Guy’s journal, which Sweetie then mentions to Carolyn.
- Raylan parks outside Carolyn’s house as part of the police protection detail to ensure the Albanians can’t move on her. She sits in the car with him and they drink and flirt.

Justified: City Primeval Episode 5 is slated to air on Tuesday, August 8, on FX, at 10 p.m. ET.
