While fans always knew that things did not end well for Gojo (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura) and Geto (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai) at Jujutsu High, episode five really drove home just how fractured their relationship became in the end.
Despite knowing Gojo would eventually change for the worse, seeing it happen in real-time and experiencing the struggle with him made it that much harder to watch.
Still, MAPPA did a wonderful job animating this episode and the entire five-episode arc. Now that fans know the backstory, they’ll soon return to the present to continue Yuji’s journey to becoming a jujutsu sorcerer.
- It is now one year later, making it August 2007.
- Gojo demonstrates a new ability for Shoko and Geto that allows him to prioritize targets and keep his Limitless Technique running simultaneously.
- He also says he’s been working on reverse techniques, hand signals, and more.
- While watching, Geto comments to himself that Gojo has now become the “strongest,” meaning they are both handling missions alone.
- Geto wonders who he is doing sorcerer work for while trying to convince himself he still wants to save others.
- Haibara tells Geto he’s being sent on a faraway mission and promises to bring back gifts.
- Geto asks if he can be a sorcerer even when it gets hard, and Haibara says it feels good to give his all to something he can actually do.
- A woman named Yuki Tsukomo approaches them and strikes up a conversation. She reveals herself to be a special-grade sorcerer.
- She never takes official missions but admits she seeks to create a world where cursed spirits are never born.
- She proposes two ways to do this: eradicate all cursed energy from humans, as Toji did with himself, or teach humans to control cursed energy.
- Since jujutsu sorcerers excrete little cursed energy, she says curses would not be born if the whole world were sorcerers.
- Geto concludes it would just be easier to kill all non-sorcerers, and while Yuki agrees, she says that would be evolving based on fear, and she isn’t crazy enough to do that.
- He admits that lately, he has struggled to see the value in non-sorcerers or the point of protecting such ugly-minded people.
- Geto says he is struggling with the two parts of himself, and Yuki says he will have to choose one day.
- Before leaving, Yuki says not to worry about the Star Plasma Vessel as it seems another one already existed or was born soon after Riko.
- After Haibara dies on his mission, Geto learns from Nanami that their grade 2 spirit really should have been classified as a grade 1.
- Geto is sent on a mission where deaths from a cursed spirit are being blamed on two young girls who are being caged and beaten as a result.
- He explains it is not their fault as he already exorcised the curses, but the villagers insist.
- Geto ends up murdering all 112 village members and is sentenced to death.
- Yaga tells Gojo that on top of the village, Geto also murdered his parents, but Gojo refuses to believe it.
- Shoko encounters Geto in public and casually asks if there’s any chance to allegations are false. He admits they are not.
- Gojo shows up and demands Geto explain himself, saying his goal is impossible. Geto challenges this, saying it is unfair for Gojo to say it is impossible when they both know he would be able to do it if he wanted.
- Gojo raises his hands to kill Geto but fails even to attempt it.
- Geto returns to the Star Religious Group, looking for a place to collect money and curses.
- He demands they follow him now, and when they refuse, he kills someone as an example.
- Later, Gojo finds Toji’s son, Megumi, and attempts to explain his father’s past to him, but Megumi does not care.
- He asks if Megumi would like to be sold off to the Zenin clan, but Megumi will not go if it does not mean happiness for his older sister.
- Gojo says he will take care of it.
- The episode ends with Gojo waking up to Megumi, Yuji, and Nobara above him.

Predictions
With the Gojo’s Past Arc coming to a close, the series is now set to return to the present, following Yuji and his classmates in the Shibuya Incident Arc. Let’s see if we can guess how things will start.
- Despite knowing that Geto is dead, after spending so much time showing us his and Gojo’s past, I have a feeling he has something to do with this next arc. I could see his previous followers becoming a problem or someone taking up his old religion and becoming the series’ new villain.
- I could also see Megumi becoming more interested in his father and past now, especially since Toji was such a prominent part of these first five episodes as well.
