We discuss predictions for the Apple TV+ series Swagger Season 2 Episode 8, including the release date and where to watch online.
“Homecoming” crams quite a lot into its hour-long run time. In the penultimate episode, we are shown the pressures facing the Cedar Cove coaching staff and its players. Jace (Isaiah R. Hill) is struggling with recruitment, Nick (Jason Rivera-Torres) wants to play for his country, and CJ (Quvenzhané Wallis) decides to come out to his father.
The episode manages to juggle all of these storylines and emotions amicably, although there is still room for the show’s standard goofy humor and corny romance that always seem close to derailing things entirely. Here’s what happened in Swagger Season 2, Episode 7:
- It’s Nick’s 18th birthday party. The staff and players celebrate together. Nick’s mother makes a speech about the sacrifices they’ve made to help Nick succeed. There is a lot of pressure on this player, making the Puerto Rico National team and the whole squad perform well in general.
- Jace and Crystal kiss at the party, making things official. CJ goes off with a girl. Camden tells Ike that his father is ill and CJ will be missing practice for a few days.
- Camden and CJ road trip to visit CJ’s grandfather, who is dying. CJ has never met him before because Camden and his father fell out. At the grandfather’s home, the family gathers. Camden apologizes to his father and thanks him for helping motivate him with his career.
- Camden’s father dies. On the drive home, CJ comes out as gay to his father.
- Emory is pressured by the board; they need to win the National Championships to offset the controversy. Diane states that fundraising is down, and they need this success to bring in more revenue.
- Ike tells Jace about his lackluster recruitment options. There is now even more pressure on Jace than ever before. He needs to improve his game, and the team needs to go far in the Nationals.
- Naim and Ike argue over the coach’s lies and his sole focus on Jace. Naim argues that other players have ambitions and dreams, too.
- CJ makes his announcement to the team, and the players all hug. Scouts are here to watch Nick and Jace perform. Jace plays poorly while Nick is on fire. The Mustangs win, but the scouts aren’t impressed with Jace at all.
- Naim quits the team.
