Apple TV+ cannot get enough of actress Rose Byrne; after starring in Platonic, she is back as Sheila Rubin in the 80s glam drama series Physical.
In the latest installment, “Burning Up,” Sheila signs an endorsement deal with a food company while battling her inner demons.
It’s a repetitive and predictable installment, focusing on Sheila’s rise to fame. The subplots feel, once again, irrelevant and minor compared to Sheila’s main narrative, which is the focal point. That being said, the series is well-written, if lacking in any real comedic moments.
Here’s what happened in Physical Season 3, Episode 3:
- Sheila completes her first workout session on national TV. This led to an endorsement deal with Hartman Foods. They are trialing a new fat-free cookie and want Sheila to be involved in their launch.
- Sheila and Greta try out samples of the different cookies, looking for one that fits Sheila’s image. Sheila realizes that she doesn’t know what she likes anymore. She tells the group this revelation.
- Danny turns up unannounced, crashing their anonymous support meeting. He wants Sheila to look after Maya a day early. Sheila is furious and goes to her file on Danny for some dirt and leverage.
- She tells Danny that he will now be doing 50/50 custody of Maya. Sheila uses Danny’s criminal record to force him into this verbal agreement. Danny struggles to look after Maya for so many days in a row.
- John and Maria attend a meal looking to drum up some business. Maria is antagonistic, upsetting the guests. John is given Porta-potty duties for the LA Games. He blames Maria. She fights back, saying that she won’t take any more of John’s abuse.
- Sheila goes out for a meal alone and meets the suave Carlos. They plan a date together.
- Danny is failing as a father; he calls his sister Deb for support. She agrees to stay with him in the meantime.
- Greta asks Ernie to step down as a business partner, but he refuses.
- Sheila is plagued by visions of Kelly still. She manages to ignore them and go for what she wants. After signing the endorsement deal, she kisses Carlos before their first date.
Physical Season 3 Episode 4 Release Date and Time
Episode 4 will be released on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023, at 12 am PT. Episode 4 is titled “Material Girl” and will have a run time of 28 minutes.

- Sheila has decided to go after what she wants in life without worrying about the consequences. She’s ditched Danny, forced him to help out with child care, and signed a lucrative endorsement deal. Now she’s after a new love in her life, enter Carlos. I think Sheila’s bad-ass attitude will continue in “Material Girl” as she grows her business empire further.
- The vicious inner voice in Sheila’s head has been replaced by a vision of her rival, Kelly Kilmartin. Sheila has tried to ignore this tormentor, but Kelly isn’t going anywhere. The vision will start to appear more often, leading to Sheila having a mental breakdown. Things are going far too well for our hero at the moment, anyway.
- Danny will persuade his sister to take over parenting duties while he goes out and selfishly lives his life. Danny will take up running and get into shape.
