It’s been over 80 years since Stan Lee and others gave life to iconic heroes like Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Hulk, and Iron Man. In 2008, Robert Downey Jr. starred as Tony Stark in the first film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This was followed by five more in what’s now known as Phase One of The Infinity Saga, culminating with The Avengers. Three more phases followed, with several movies, TV shows, with Phase Four concluding with the epic Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
There’s no sign of them stopping the making of these hugely successful films and shows. Especially now Marvel Studios has access to the X-Men and The Fantastic Four to place in their multiverse.
There is plenty to look forward to. We’ve put together a list of all the movies and shows you can expect from Marvel Studios. Some of the films and series on this list even have release dates to add to your calendar right now.

Upcoming Marvel Shows and Movies in 2023 and Beyond
Here is the schedule of upcoming MCU projects in 2023 and beyond. The dates may change depending on whether projects are brought forward, delayed or outright canceled.
Phase 5 Movies
The Marvels (November 10, 2023)
Captain Marvel’s highly anticipated sequel has been in the works since 2019. So far, the film starring Brie Larson has received four different release dates and is still facing delays. The film features a team-up with Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau and is partly set on the S.A.B.E.R. Space Station, where audiences saw Nick Fury at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home. It will also show more of the Kree-Skrull war, likely dealing with the fallout from Secret Invasion.
Official premise: Following the events of Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau begin swapping places with each other every time they use their powers and must team up to figure out why.
The trailer showed the super-swapping shenanigans that will happen in the film.
Deadpool 3 (May 3, 2024)
Many were surprised to hear that the MCU is adopting the merc with a mouth Wade Wilson in their Multiverse of Madness. But then again, it is called the Multiverse of Madness for a reason. While we don’t know much about the plot, Ryan Reynolds invited Hugh Jackman to reprise his iconic role as Wolverine, and he said, “Yeah, sure, Ryan.” Some might remember how that character died back in Logan, but Multiverse. Of. Madness. And we’re here for it.
Production has been halted due to the Hollywood actors’ strike, and the film might see a delay.
Captain America: Brave New World (July 26, 2024)
The fourth film in the Captain America franchise will premiere in early May 2024. Directed by Julius Ona, the film stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres, and Harrison Ford will replace the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross, who is now the President of the United States in the MCU.
Thunderbolts (Dec 20, 2024)
So far, we know that this movie will be directed by Jake Schreier and will feature an all-star cast composed of Sebastian Stan, Olga Kurylenko, Florence Pugh, Harrison Ford, and Hannah John-Kamen. The premise is similar to D.C.’s The Suicide Squad as it gets a group of supervillains together and sends them on a mission for good.
Production on the film has been shut down due to the ongoing writers’ strike. Marvel plans to resume production once the strike ends, but it’s unclear how long this will be.
Phase 6 Movies
Blade (February 14, 2025)
The reboot to Wesley Snipes’s Blade trilogy was originally set to hit cinemas in November 2023, but director Bassam Tariq pulled out mere weeks before filming was scheduled to start. Not much is known at this point about the highly-anticipated movie, but Mahershala Ali will star as the titular daywalker. Surprisingly, the film will be a PG-13 movie, not an R like the late 90s classic.
Production on the film has halted due to the ongoing writer’s strike.
Fantastic Four (May 2, 2025)
A Fantastic Four reboot set in the MCU has been in the works since in 2019. Matt Shakman is set to direct the feature written by Jeff Kaplan. No casting decisions have been announced yet. John Krasinski (of The Office fame) did make an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Mr. Fantastic, but it’s unclear if he’ll reprise the role in the movie.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (May 1, 2026)
The film will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, and will mark the 40th film in the MCU. So far, the only cast member confirmed is Jonathan Majors, who will appear as Kang. It will likely take cues from the 2001 to 2002 comic storyline of the same name, written by Kurt Busiek.
Avengers: Secret Wars (May 7, 2027)
2025 was supposed to be the year of the Avengers, as Secret Wars was supposed to come out mere months after The Kang Dynasty. But due to delays, it’s been pushed to 2027. Little is known about Secret Wars, other than it will take inspiration from the comics crossover Marvel Super Hero Secret Wars from 1984-1985 written by Jim Shooter, and Secret Wars from 2015 by Jonathan Hickman.
Disney+ Shows
Loki Season 2 (October 6, 2023)
Not a lot is known about the second season of Loki, though it will tie heavily into the Multiverse Saga. At the end of season one, Kang took over the Time Variance Authority (TVA). A tease after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania shows Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Owen Wilson’s Mobius in the 1920s, seeing Jonathan Majors’ Victor Timely, a variant of Kang. Other returning cast members are Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Owen Wilson, and Sophia Di Martino. It will have six episodes.
The trailer introduces Ke Huy Quan’s OB, the repair man for the TVA, and the concept of timeslipping, something that looks very painful to experience.
What If…? Season 2 (Christmas 2023)
What If..? season two was scheduled for an early 2023 release, but Marvel has been silent about when the show will actually come out. The premise of the show sees The Watcher following alternate realities within the multiverse. Captain Carter will see her story continue as she discovers that Steve Rogers is still alive as the villainous Hydra Stomper. There is a third season of What If…? in development.
Echo (January 2024)
Starring Alaqua Cox, Chaske Spencer, and Tantoo Cardinal, Echo was first announced on Disney+ Day in November 2021. All episodes will be released at once, a first for Marvel. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin are expected to return for the show.
Official premise: The origin of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots, and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.
X-Men ‘97 (Early 2024)
X-Men ’97 will be a continuation of the beloved animated series of the X-Men, which ran from 1992 and ended in 1997. Some of the heroes that will be included are Magneto, Rogue, Beast, Jean Grey and Cyclops. The series will be the first fully-produced Marvel Studios project not to be a part of the MCU. A second season of the show is also confirmed.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (Fall 2024)
First introduced in WandaVision, Agatha Harkness (played by Kathryn Hahn) will get her own spin-off series. Emma Caulfield Ford has been cast to appear as Sarah Proctor, while Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, and Maria Dizzia have joined the cast in undisclosed roles. This is the first time that a character in the MCU will lead their own show without having their own Marvel Comics series.
Ironheart (TBA)
Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, was originally going to get her own movie. Instead, Marvel Studios is giving her a six-episode series set to premiere on Disney+. Dominique Thorne will reprise her role, and the show will continue from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Spider-Man: Freshman Year (TBA)
Fans of the Spider-Man cartoons have something to look forward to with another cartoon announced for Disney+. While there is little word on the plot, the series will focus on a different Peter Parker. Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Daredevil in the show, and audiences can expect appearances from Doctor Strange, the Rhino, and Doc Ock.
The series will be part of the MCU but set in a different multiverse. There will also be a follow-up cartoon titled Spider-Man: Sophomore Year.
Daredevil: Born Again (TBA)
Daredevil fans were excited to see the character (played by Charlie Cox) briefly exchange some in-fight banter with She-Hulk, and even have a romantic relationship with the character. We’re getting a series centered on the blind lawyer by day/vigilante by night Matt Murdock. It’s completely unconnected to the Netflix iteration, and Charlie Cox has said in an interview with NME that the series will be less gory, but it will be dark.

Marvel Zombies (TBA)
Episode five of What If…? introduced audiences to zombies in the MCU multiverse, and Marvel are keen to continue to explore this premise. Announced in November 2021, this follow-up series will consist of four TV-MA or R-rated episodes, and will not follow on from the events started in ‘What If… zombies!?’ Expect zombified versions of Hawkeye, Captain America, Captain Marvel and more. Some of the heroes fighting to stop the zombie horde include Yelena Belova, Shang-Chi and Ms. Marvel.
Wonder Man (TBA)
Marvel’s Wonder Man was quietly announced in 2022, but will star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (he has previously played Black Manta in DC’s Aquaman) as the titular character. Shang Chi: Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will develop the show, which will also see the return of Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery. There hasn’t been a release date announced for the show.
Production on the show has been shut down due to the ongoing writers’ strike, and it will reportedly resume once it ends.
Nova (TBA)
Confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, a Disney+ series focusing on the Marvel hero Nova, aka Richard Rider, is in development. Audiences have already met the Nova Corps in the first Guardians of the Galaxy, who are tied to the character. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos decimated the Nova Corps and their planet Xandar. Nova got his powers when a similar event hit the Corps in the comics. Very little is known about the show.
Phaseless:
Armor Wars (TBA)
Originally, Armor Wars was being developed into a six-episode Disney+ series. However, in September 2022, Marvel Studio announced that the story is being written as a full feature. Little is known of the new movie, but it will star Don Cheadle’s War Machine after the events of Secret Invasion.

Spider-Man 4 (TBA)
Teasing the fourth film in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Feige has confirmed that a fourth MCU Tom Holland Spider-Man film is in development.
“All I will say is that we have the story,” Feige explained. “We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now.” Sony boss Tim Rothman has stated that they hope to get working on the project “with the whole group,” meaning Tom Holland, Zendaya, etc.
Unconfirmed:
Vision Quest
Deadline first broke that a spin-off show focusing on Paul Bettany’s Vision is in the works and will be called Vision Quest. When we last saw Vision, he flew out of the finale of WandaVision to ponder his existence. Deadline says that the show will focus on White Vision regaining his memory and humanity. It will likely incorporate elements from the comics event of the same name, and possibly introduce the West-Coast Avengers.
Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce the show.
