Summary
Memories of the Alhambra episode 10 stepped the game up a notch, yet it still felt surprisingly slow despite more answers for the audience.
This recap of Memories of the Alhambra Season 1, Episode 10, contains spoilers. You can check out our thoughts on the previous episode by clicking these words.
In an episode that offered plenty, it felt like it moved at a snail’s pace for some reason. We are reaching the essential chapters of Yoo Jin-woo’s (Hyun Bin) journey to find Jung Se-joo (Chan-Yeol Park), prevent his company from collapsing and solidify his romantic relationship with Jung Hee-joo (Shin-Hye Park). Memories of the Alhambra episode 10 began repeating how the previous episode ended, with the train incident and Yoo Jin-woo losing his assistant in the game.
From there, the CEO goes on a shooting spree, making his way back to Granada so he can enter the mysterious quest, where he can save the ‘master’, which we all suspect will be the programmer. Meanwhile back at the company, everyone is fretting about the future; it’s a delicate balance between believing Yoo Jin-woo or not, and either option could save the billions they have invested in buying a license for the game.
Memories of the Alhambra episode 10 sees Jung Hee-joo at the company witnessing Yoo Jin-woo’s closest business associate have a breakdown over the future of the company. It’s clear that Jung Hee-joo wants to save her brother and has a slight doubt about the mental stability of the CEO, but her feelings for Yoo Jin-woo are giving her belief, hope, and confidence that his objectives are correct. In a sneak preview of next week’s episode, it seems the two embrace and kiss, but whether that is camera trickery to get us excited I am sure we will find out soon enough.
As the company sweat over the risk of entering the elusive quest, which is some form of a dark, dingy dungeon in Granada, Yoo Jin-woo reflects on his brief past with Jung Hee-joo and his claims that the place will be magical in the future. As he gets further into the dungeon, the enemies come thick and fast, some looking like zombies. All appears lost for Yoo Jin-woo in episode 10, as he is slashed over and over again by non-playable characters, but then his assistant appears out of nowhere as an ally and saves him. The tragic moment is that he is part of the video game, making Yoo Jin-woo fear the worst – is he dead?
Memories of the Alhambra episode 10 ends with Yoo Jin-woo near his death, and as he accepts his fate, a shining light appears in the corner of his eye – surely its Jung Se-joo? We will find out next week.
