How does Can You Hear Me? season 1, episode 9, “My Dad Is the Best” open?
Episode 9 opens with Ada waking up Fabiola with a surprise. She sings a song about Jean-Michel kissing her and fighting over a bum is wrong — Marcel is playing the guitar. Fabiola forgives Ada. Ada has a therapy session that involves boxing this time. She accidentally hits the therapist. Ada wishes things didn’t go sideways all the time. The therapist reminds her it’s not all her fault when it all goes sideways and that she can’t control everything. The therapist also reminds her that she’s a good person.
The mother
When Ada returns home, her mother tells her that Nassim (the barman) came over and she shooed him away by saying Ada had a boyfriend and makes a statement that her daughter can’t date ethnics. Ada is fuming and tells her to leave the apartment. Her mother furiously packs up and says her life would have been fine if she didn’t have Ada. Ada is over the moon as Nassim left her flowers.
But it turns it was not Nassim as the landlord asks Ada if he can come inside and reveals he left the flowers. The landlord says he thinks and worries about her a lot. Ada shuts the door on him.
Reunion
Carolanne heads to her parent’s house to reunite. It’s an emotional reunion. When she sees her father she struggles to speak and tells her mother to leave as she deserves better and runs off.

Carolanne and Ada go out for drinks. Ada speaks to Nassim at the bar and she clears things up about her mother. When she returns to the table, Carolanne has gone to the bathroom. Fabiola turns up and learns that Carolanne is in the bathroom and on the phone to Keven. We learn that Keven’s friends raped her and he just watched — Carolanne tells Keven that she was not asking for it and he just stood there: “You were supposed to love me”. Carolanne vents and then Fabiola comfort her. Ada punches the mirror in anger and on the way out, she throws beer all over Nassim.
