How does Reality Z season 1, episode 1, “Olympus” open?
Episode 1 opens up in Rio de Janeiro. Two siblings ask their mother if she’s watching the show again. She says, “What show? I’m watching the news”. The mother is watching a reality show called God’s House: Olympus — it’s like Big Brother but house-themed.
The show must go on
While on the way to the studio, Sofia’s driver stops and he sees a zombie eating a human. Brandão, the producer, is told that the episode may be canceled due to the chaos in the city. Brandão wants the show to go on regardless of the violence. Divina, the host, wants assurance the show will go live. Brandão goes live with the show with Divina — she announces that there will be a triple sacrifice in ” tonight’s episode”. Reality Z season 1, episode 1, “Olympus” shows a selfish producer in chaotic times.
Chaos
Sofia’s driver is bitten so they race to the studio where there’s an ambulance. The driver turns into a zombie as they reach the main gate. As one of the contestants is evicted, a zombie walks through the crowd. It manages to get into the studios. Suddenly the power starts going down as the zombie enters the main producer hub where Brandão is. Multiple zombies overrun the studio and the crowd and Divina is eaten alive.
Sex video
Showrunner Nina gets sent a sex video from Lucas and he deletes it. With minutes to go until they go live, they have sex. Another staff member named Ro joins them for a threesome. She’s radioed in by Dante to get cigarettes — Lucas heads to the store for her. Ro tells Nina that the sex video isn’t deleted. Zombie Lucas walks through the door and eats Ro alive. Nina manages to lock herself in another room. Nina puts on the news and learns the disease has spread throughout the city. Reality Z season 1, episode 1, “Olympus” shows the reality sinking in for the first time — zombies.
Go for the head
Inside the house, none of the contestants understands what has happened and gets on with their day. Nina is chased by zombie Lucas again but when she stabs it in the brain, the zombie dies. Nina is chased by another zombie but she manages to escape but it is out of the frying pan and into the fire as she ends up outside with groups of zombies. As she opens a car door, the zombies are suddenly alert so she runs back into the studio compound.

Meanwhile, in the house, Marcos wants to leave. Marcos then realizes something is wrong. He alerts the other housemates and suggests going on the roof to see what is happening. Suddenly, Nina ends up in the house and the contestants think it’s a new housemate. Reality Z season 1, episode 1, “Olympus” is very familiar with the zombie genre but it has some promise.
