The opening of The New Legends of Monkey season 2, episode 1, “Graveyard of the Gods”
It opens with our group (Monkey, Tripitaka, Pigsy and Sandy) running away — they are getting attacked by demons who do not want them to have the scrolls. Monkey takes over and starts fighting as Tripitaka continues running. This is a good opening to be fair, with some well-choreographed fight scenes. The group finally get away. Monkey tells the Gods to find refuge and that he has reclaimed the scrolls of immortality. Monkey seems cocky at this point, sharing with everyone his plans, thinking he is unbeatable. He soon leaves the group to ride on his cloud and tells them to walk on foot. Monkey is then rejected from the place that holds all the scrolls and his hand is chopped off; he returns to his friends. He’s ridiculously arrogant already.
A Bounty on the Monkey King
The demon lords hold a meeting and discuss the return of the Monkey King. General Khan receives an update that the Monkey King has the Scroll of Immortality. They send word to every bandit and bounty hunter — to find the Monkey King. There’s a target on Monkey King already, 15 minutes into the second season.
Growing his hands back
In the woods, Tripitaka finds a woman apparently doing gardening of special herbs. She tells about the spirit energy of the fallen Gods — they are in the Graveyard of the Gods. The group all end up inhaling one of the plants and they all fall unconscious. When they wake up, the woman says they ended up sniffing a poison. The woman, now known as Mycelia, references their scroll and how brave Tripitaka is. Mycelia gives Monkey King a remedy so his hands grow back in seven hours.
The ending of The New Legends of Monkey season 2, episode 1, “Graveyard of the Gods”
Monkey returns to the place where his hands were chopped off and Scribe attacks them with knives, arrows, hammers, stones and wind. Monkey King manages to hit Scribe with his weapon. The Scribe suddenly is complimentary and lets Monkey and the others into the library. Very quickly, the group get lost inside the library. Episode 1 was a strange, funny opening with the group trying to enter the library.
