The opening of The New Legends of Monkey season 2, episode 2, “Quest for Knowledge”

The group is still trying to find the sacred scroll in the vast library also known as the Infinite Archives. Pigsy and Sandy end up arguing and one of the librarians asks them to shush — it was literal. They can now not physically speak. Meanwhile, Monkey King reads a history book that says he stole the scrolls. Tripitaka tries reassuring him that history is often subjective. Monkey King is way too in his own head. Tripitaka asks the librarian for help on finding the scrolls — she gives them a riddle and Tripitaka guesses the answer — they need to find the scroll of knowledge. The demons also want the scroll of knowledge — Cranius King heads to the Infinite Archives.

Fighting statues

To get to the scroll of knowledge, the group has to fight statues. Tripitaka figures out that you have to defeat the statues in the right order in order to pass them — the same order as a rainbow. Monkey’s intelligence lets him down again as he defeats them in the wrong order. The librarian gives the group another riddle.

Riddle duel

Suddenly, Queen Hakuru shows up and wants to fight them, however, it’s just a memory. The group then comes across a peach and the librarian keeps repeating “a peach, just a peach”. Cranius King then turns up and gives them the answer to the riddle of the peach — they then follow him. For the final riddles, they have to exclude one of them from the group — Tripitaka picks Monkey to be excluded but the Librarian pits Monkey against Cranius despite being terrible at riddles.

The ending of The New Legends of Monkey season 2, episode 2, “Quest for Knowledge”

The riddle duel begins and Cranius wins it easily and walks off with the Scroll of Knowledge. The group tries to fight Cranius as he heads out. Monkey refuses to fight Cranius as he is being childish because Tripitaka excluded him from the group. Tripitaka then realizes where the real Scroll of Knowledge is — Cranius picked up the wrong object and when he returns to the Demon Council, his head explodes. The Librarian had the scroll all along and she passes it to Tripitaka — she used the scroll to protect the archives for years — as soon as she passes it, she grows quickly old and dies.

Tripitaka asks the scroll of knowledge where they should go next to find the next scroll. Episode 2 is funny, creative and full of riddles as the characters are required to use their brains early on in the journey
