The opening of The New Legends of Monkey season 2, episode 4, “Puppet Master”
At the start of the episode, Great Gorm wants to fight Monkey King himself — he believes the only way to defeat him is with fists and an ax. The group is trying to find the Scroll of Creation. Suddenly, they are smoked out by gas, and Monkey is entranced by a woman demon named Mothrax. Monkey is suddenly weirdly complimentary of Pigsy — the smoke reaches Pigsy and he becomes complimentary as well — they have been hit by a love potion. The whole group all love each other now bringing rather strange sequences of scenes.
Loving each other
As they are distracted, Mothrax takes the scrolls — the group figure out that a splash of water snaps them out of the love potion. The scrolls are gone and the group chase after Mothrax. A man trips over Mothrax and gives the group back their scrolls but it all seems too easy at this point, there’s definitely something going on. The man offers to lead them on the road. In the middle of the night, the man, who is a puppet master, tries to do his trickery on Monkey but fails. However, he manages to transfer Tripitaka’s soul into a puppet.
Turning against each other
Later in the night, the group learn that scrolls are missing. Tripitaka tries talking to the group from the puppet but she fails. The controlled Tripitaka blames Kaedo Zef for stealing the scrolls — when the group check Kaedo Zef, he has the scrolls near him so the controlled Tripitaka banishes him. Pigsy does not believe Tripitaka is acting herself. The puppet master is trying to turn them all against each other.
The ending of The New Legends of Monkey season 2, episode 4, “Puppet Master”
Pigsy tries to confront the man but the controlled Tripitaka tells Pigsy that his only use is his strength and size so he leaves. Sandy and Monkey test Tripitaka’s memory and she cannot answer but she distracts them by saying Kaedo Zef is nearby spying on them all. The puppet man starts breaking Tripitaka’s puppet to hurt her but Kaedo Zef comes to the rescue but this leads to his death, as the controlled Tripitaka stabs him with the poisoned Fangkris before she is freed from the puppet.
Pigsy shows up again after his brief fight with Gorm. Monkey and Gorm then fight. To help out Monkey, Tripitaka throws a love potion on the ground and Gorm flees. Tripitaka is upset, believing that Pigsy is now dead after his fight with Gorm and distraught over Kaedo Zef’s demise.
