Summary
“Finding Paradise” meanders over the core plot and has the characters taking a place of refuge in a strange place.

The opening of The New Legends of Monkey season 2, episode 5, “Finding Paradise”
Tripitaka is adamant that they save Pigsy who is actually alive. They are carrying him. Sandy believes that when they are going in the right direction, the plant stays alive — if they go the wrong way, the plant starts dying. What a strange observation by Sandy who has personified the plant. Gorm returns to the Demon Council and he is annoyed that one of the demons is sat on Queen Hakura’s throne. Gorm announces that Monkey’s fellowship is divided and that he has the sacred scrolls.
The group versus the Harvesters
As the group walk through the woods, Sandy senses human bones. Suddenly, they are surrounded. The lead Harvester asks for the dead one in reference to Pigsy. A fight between the group and the Harvesters ensues. Pigsy announces himself, declaring that he’s not dead, which ends the fight.
Gorm has now announced himself as in-charge — he wants to use the Scrolls of Creation to create an army to crush Monkey King. However, he doesn’t have the scroll but Monkey King is trying to find it — Gorm orders them to go get it. I mean, Gorm was just fighting Monkey and the group — not sure why he’s deflecting orders and blame all of a sudden.
Reaching a new village
The group reaches a new village and Mycelia tells them that Pigsy does not have much time. She gives him some plant medicine. Tripitaka breaks down in tears in front of Mycelia and tells her he poisoned and killed the boy Kaedo Zef and that the scrolls are gone. Mycelia tells her that she’s trying to take on too much and she’s just a child. This scene reminds the audience how young Tripitaka is on her quests.
You have a choice
Mycelia continues to help Pigsy recover and enters his dreams. She asks him to give him a hand in the Graveyard of the Gods — she gives him a choice; death or the chosen quest. Pigsy feels honored that he has finally got a choice himself and wakes up.
The ending of The New Legends of Monkey season 2, episode 5, “Finding Paradise”
Sandy seems to be rather engaged with Timotheé and is suddenly anxious that she’s not anxious anymore, which a hugely relatable moment for many. She approaches Tripitaka and tells her that they are slowly forgetting the quest. Sandy tells Tripitaka to snap out of it and reminds her of what happened to Kaedo Zef. Tripitaka then forces Monkey to remember.
Tripitaka tells Pigsy that Mycelia is offering them their desires so they forget their question but he doesn’t care. Within one of the trees, they find the scroll and Mycelia stops her asking what she’s up to — she doesn’t want them to have the scroll. Mycelia then gets her “children” to fight them. As they fight, Tripitaka heads to the tree to get the scroll. She manages to get the scroll — Mycelia disappears now it’s in Tripitaka’s hand. Episode 5 meanders over the core plot and has the characters taking a place of refuge in a strange place.
