Summary
PEN15 season 2, episode 6 sees both characters having their own influence on the school play as the stakes increase for opening night.

The opening
The school play cast is announced and Maya is given the lead. Anna did not get a role and she’s gutted. In rehearsals, the lead actor says that if he had to pick to remove someone from the cast, he’d pick Maya. This is not a great start for Maya who is already nervous.
Reading the play
Maya learns she has a kiss in the first scene. Later that day, Maya and Anna message each other online about rehearsals. Maya reveals she has to kiss Gabe but she wants her first kiss to be someone she loves. Anna tells Maya to read the script. Late in the night, Maya imagines the play and how she will act it.
Bringing out her best
The next day, Maya is easily distracted while rehearsing. The director gets her emotional on purpose so she gets the script perfect. Maya is incredible at rehearsals due to the tactic deployed by the director. Suddenly, Maya sees Gabe in a different light. The next rehearsal scene is where they have to kiss.
Props
Anna joins the prop crew to help out. She tells the team to stop arguing over props. Anna takes charge of the crew and she enjoys it. Anna is made stage manager.
A proposal
In the kissing scene, Maya tries to kiss Gabe but he backs out. He pulls her aside and asks Maya if she’d be his girlfriend. She accepts his proposal so that when they kiss they are doing so as boyfriend and girlfriend.
Stress
The rehearsals then move to the stage with Anna managing the lights and the production. Maya is struggling to find the light. Anna gives the crew a demonstration of how to find the light. Everyone is stressed and Gabe could be ill. Anna is annoyed at the preparations.
The ending
Maya goes to Gabe’s house and brings masks and soup in case he is sick. When she tries kissing him he freaks out and claims he doesn’t want her to get sick. They both put face masks on each other and dance — they kiss through the mask. Meanwhile, Anna spends the night cleaning and sorting the theatre.
Maya asks if they can do their kiss now without the masks but Gabe suggests waiting until opening night. This feels like a disaster waiting to happen. PEN15 season 2, episode 6 sees both characters having their own influence on the school play as the stakes increase for opening night.
