This article “Who is Owen in The Haunting of Bly Manor” contains minor spoilers.
We recapped the whole Netflix series — check out the archive.
Bly Manor has an au pair, a gardener, a housekeeper and two children. But who is Owen in The Haunting of Bly Manor?
Why is he at Bly Manor?
He’s the chef — yes, Owen is probably the calmest character in the entire series. He does not seem phased by the events that proceed and keeps himself lowkey in most situations.
Is he liked by the other characters?
Yes, Owen is the one character in Bly Manor that everyone unanimously has no problems with — we guess it is because he brings no dramas to the table.
Why a chef? (minor spoilers)
For a while during the series, we all assumed that Owen was a chef just because he was a chef. However, Owen decided to get a job at Bly Manor for a reason rather than improve his culinary skills in a city. He’s trying to keep close to his mother who is very sick. He has dreams of cooking in Paris but for now, he cooks for two children at Bly Manor so he can stay close to his mother.
He’s a stand out guy really.
Is he romantically involved with anyone? (minor spoilers)
That’s not entirely clear if outside the manor he has a romantic interest, however, inside the manor he does seem to have a close relationship with Hannah Grose.
The pair have an intimate vibe between them that feels genuine and long-lasting. Later in the series, Hannah admits to loving Owen and he seems to show that his feelings are reciprocal.
