Summary
It’s not too late for this story to pick up the energy as it has lots of potential, but unfortunately, episode 12 is another chapter that recycles the plot — it was almost boring.

Well, this has been a lacklustre weekend for Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) — after the last episode, we were really hoping there would be an injection of pace or something significantly different in the plot. The flashbacks haven’t really worked in favour of the story so far.
To open Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) episode 12, Yu-sin and A-mi continue their night drive — Yu-sin gives her a box, and it’s full of painkillers, ointments and other medical productions. He gives her the box and wishes her a safe trip. She’s grateful for his care, and before he drives off, they hold each other’s hands. As he turns the corner, he stops briefly before driving away again. A-mi stands there, looking quite upset. She rings him and asks Yu-sin to come back; he sighs and turns the car. Yu-sin has accepted it’s already gone too far, which is why he sighed.
A-mi has new feelings that she hasn’t had before
Episode 12 leaves feelings unresolved between Yu-sin and A-mi.
Yu-sin heads to A-mi’s apartment, and she’s waiting for him outside. She tells him that she’s going to go back to the States as she’s lost confidence. A-mi then talks about her feelings for Yu-sin and how it’s a “first” for her. As she’s about to leave the car, Yu-sin tells A-mi that he can’t be honest with her because of his situation. A-mi is willing to overlook the situation, but Yu-sin doesn’t want her to. A-mi heads back inside, leaving unspoken words between them. She’s devastated that she cannot have him.
Yu-sin texts and tells her that he hopes she will return and that he will keep “the boat anchored”. When he gets home, he asks Sa Pi-young if they can give their daughter a sibling. She doesn’t seem keen, but Yu-sin says he will wait for her to change her mind and that she’s his priority. He continues to be audacious in his actions — why would you plan for more children when your intentions are elsewhere?
At the airport the next day, Yu-sin tries to catch A-mi before she leaves, but it’s too late. They both seem to have left it with regret.
Dong-mi is getting increasingly annoyed
Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) episode 12 reveals how toxic Dong-mi’s mind actually she — the character comes off as the show’s villain.
Dong-mi tells Sa Pi-young never to take her leftover dishes again and asks her to call her “mother”. She’s getting increasingly frustrated with her daughter-in-law and her husband. She calls her husband a “walking corpse” and is repeatedly disgusted by him. Meanwhile, Sa Pi-young serves Dong-mi’s food to Yu-sin. He’s surprised Dong-mi has failed to cook this one to perfection as she’s usually good at it. Sa Pi-young is excited, believing she knows what the dish’s secret ingredient is — a flavour enhancer.
The next day, Dong-mi picks up a wig for her husband, so he looks younger.
Hitting the gym, again
Sa-hyeon continues his creeping at the gym, and he’s irked that Song Won ignored his texts. Eventually, she texts back, saying her phone was broke, and she gives him a recipe for a salad. Their texts are very back and forth, and they agree to talk at the gym.
The pair have a breakout meal at the gym again, and they are getting more talkative with each other. Sa-hyeon offers to buy her dinner, and Song Won suggests he brings his wife as well.
Baby talk
Dong-mi’s manipulation goes beyond slowly killing her husband and keeping secret recipe at bay from Sa Pi-young; she also gets involved in her daughter-in-law’s marriage.
Shin Gi-rim and Dong-mi meet Sa Pi-young and Yu-sin for dinner. Dong-mi has planted it in Gi-rim’s head that Sa Pi-young should have another baby for Ji-a. It becomes the centre of discussion. Sa Pi-young raises how she and Yu-sin grew up as fine adults without siblings. Yu-sin states he’d like another child, but he’s happy as he is. Yu-sin suddenly gets a text, and he “has to go to the hospital”. He lies so freely, so effortless.
Dinner for Sa-hyeon and Song Won
Sa-hyeon and Song Won go for dinner, and predictably, his wife doesn’t come. They talk about careers, and Song Won believes Sa-hyeon is a model. Sa-hyeon talks about how he and his wife agreed not to have children, and his parents are not pleased. Song Won suggests he talks his wife into it. Sa-hyeon then talks about how he fell in love with her — that he saw Boo Hye-rung playing the drums. Song Won then reveals she had a divorce after trying for children, but she couldn’t get pregnant, but she’s happier with her current life — she now believes in waiting for the right person. They both agree on names to say to each other in Chinese equivalents. Song Won then gets sad that she has no-one without her parents and her brother lives in Juju island. Her parents passed away — she begins to cry so Sa-hyeon gets her tissues.
The ending
Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) episode 12 ends with another affair established.
After the meal ends, Sa-hyeon grabs her coat for her. The pair drunkenly walk the streets. As they walk, Sa-hyeon talks about the trials and tribulations of marriage and how he gets little in return for his affection. Sa-hyeon then buys Song Won gloves for her cold hands. Song Won buys him a scarf in return. He asks her to put the scarf on him. Song Won admits she hasn’t had a good time in a while and thanks him. They clumsily hug each other, and Sa-hyeon kisses her forehead, but she’s way too drunk, so he has to hold her.
