Only Murders in the Building season 1, episode 9 recap
Episode 9 opens, confirming that Jan is still alive and she’s taken to hospital. Charles takes her home and cares for her. She has an upcoming concert coming up where she plays music as part of a group, and she wants to perform despite concern from Charles.
Charles wonders if Jan should mention her theory on Howard to the cops — one murder has been solved, but not Tim Kono. Charles feels he needs to leave the podcast group because Jan means a lot to him. But he hasn’t got time to think as his stunt double Saz shows up.
On the podcast, the group has to clarify that they have not solved the mystery of the murder of Tim Kono — it was not Teddy and Theo. The building residents are now fed up with them. The others are alarmed at the likeness of Charle’s stunt as she delves into their murder theories. Saz says they need motive, and Jan is annoyed that they let her help when she was dismissed from the group. Saz thinks if they find out who Tim’s lover is, they’ll find the murderer.
At the Building Forum meeting, the residents claim their privacy has been breached, and no guests want to visit. Charles announces that the podcast will be over, but the residents vote on an eviction process — the podcast group will be evicted. After, Charles argues with Oliver and Mabel about the podcast and states it has gone too far. He’s out. When Charles returns to the apartment, he thinks Saz is making a move on Jan, making him incredibly insecure. Jan is annoyed that he would think such a thing and says she will be staying at hers so she can rest for the performance.
Mabel tells Oliver that she believes the trash bags in Tim’s apartment were not his because the colors on the straps were different. She decides that they should interview the next-door neighbor.
The ending
Charle tells Saz that he feels Jan is pulling away from him, but Saz states he thinks too low on himself and that he should attend the musical concert.
Oliver and Mabel visit the neighbor. The neighbor claims she could hear Tim have sex but never saw his lover but could tell he did an outstanding job in the bedroom. When Charles gets to the concert, he learns that Jan is not the soloist and his nose begins to bleed. Meanwhile, Mabel wonders why there is an exotic instrument cleaner in Tim’s sex toy box.
Is Jan Tim’s lover? Is Jan the murderer in the building?
