Unlike previous episodes of With Love, episode four picks up right where the last one ends. The audience sees the remainder of Lily and Santiago’s date at the restaurant where they bump into each other. The meeting ends with Lily putting her number in Santiago’s phone. The rest of the opening sequence consists of a montage of their relationship and budding romance from Valentine’s Day until the next episode (and holiday) Independence Day.

After catching the audience up to speed, it’s revealed that rather than celebrate July 4th the traditional way, the two will be igniting a different type of fireworks by moving in together. While it’s only been a few months since they started dating, this does concern a few of her family members. However, because Lily is an adult and because everyone is dealing with their own problems, there’s little debate.
Surprisingly, despite the big move (and similar to episode three), most of this episode is spent equally divvying up everyone’s story arcs. Henry spends the day celebrating the opening of Jorge Jr.’s new food truck with him. Beatriz and Jorge Sr. work to move on from their disastrous Valentine’s Day. And Sol is whisked away to Dr. Miles’ beachside home to finally meet his kid.
Initially, things seem to be going well for each couple, especially Lily and Santiago. But when Santiago lets it slip that he doesn’t believe in marriage, Lily feels like a fool for things moving too quickly.
Across town, halfway through celebrating Jorge’s food truck, Henry reveals that he’s been offered a job in another part of the country. While Jorge doesn’t believe that Henry really cares about it, when Henry vocalizes that he wants to take it, the two get into a fight.
Nothing is as complicated as Beatriz and Jorge Sr.’s situation. Months after it’s revealed that Beatriz was in an emotional affair with another man, Jorge Sr. still can’t seem to let it go. Though the day is spent trying to rebuild their intimacy at the behest of a marriage counselor, by the end of the episode Jorge makes it clear that he just can’t get over it.
With one of the lighter arcs of the episode, Sol struggles to find common ground with Dr. Miles’ genderqueer child, Charlie. When Dr. Miles is unexpectedly called back to the hospital, a terrible tension builds between the two. That is until Sol learns that their connection to the LGBTQ+ community shouldn’t be the foundation for their relationship.
Notably missing from the episode is Jorge Jr.’s roommate Nick. After getting heartbroken by Lily on Valentine’s Day, it’s understandable to see that he’s pulled back. However, considering how big of a deal Jorge opening up his food truck is, it doesn’t seem consistent with the kind of friend he’s been. Although it feels like he’s played his part in this story, he’s a good character that deserves his own happy ending too. Hopefully, he gets one in the finale.
By the end of the episode, Sol and Dr. Miles seem to be the only ones on track for happiness, while Lily and Santiago, Jorge Jr. and Henry, and Beatriz and Jorge Sr. are all in relationships at different boiling points. Will all or any of them last?
