This article discusses the ending of the Netflix film Tyler Perry’s A Madea Homecoming and will contain spoilers.
After Tim’s graduation, his mom, Laura, makes the decision to marry Davi. Mrs. Brown realizes that what Davi and Laura have is true, and rips up Davi’s plane ticket back to Ireland to run the family farm — explaining his grandfather is actually in jail. With Tim out of college, and the rest of the family in seemingly good places, it seems like a change of scenery could be good for Madea, and that is what the ending sets up.
When it comes to men playing elderly vulgar women, no one has done it quite like Tyler Perry and Brendan O’Carroll. Their brands have been strong as these are easily each of their most iconic roles. It almost seemed weird that they hadn’t ever done a crossover between the two characters. Since there’s absolutely going to be more Madea films — Tyler Perry will make these until the day he dies — and with the introduction of Mrs. Brown, it looks as though Madea could be traveling over the pond to Europe.
Netflix film Tyler Perry’s A Madea Homecoming ending explained
This mix of Madea in Europe could be an interesting “fish out of water” experience for Madea that could lend to some more laughs along the way. We have already seen what the culture difference can provide in terms of laughs during some of the funnier moments of A Madea Homecoming, and an entire film of that has the potential to continue the slight upward trend.
Another big factor in a potential sequel would be if Netflix is on board. Netflix finally gave Tyler Perry the chance to be an even more vulgar and outlandish character, and I still think Perry was only scratching the surface. Perry could take this new success, even if it is an extremely small amount of success, and build on that with the help of Netflix.
What will a Madea film look like set in Europe? Only time will tell, but if Madea wants to continue to work, Tyler Perry has to keep changing what a Madea film can be. If Tyler Perry’s A Madea Homecoming is any indication of it, there’s a chance it can be at the very least an enjoyable venture.
