The Boys Presents: Diabolical season 1, episode 3 recap

O.D. (Kieran Culkin) knows how to throw a party. Boy, does he ever. Where the cocaine is coating tables like freshly fallen snow that is being sniffed up by an elephant’s trunk. Girls are floating in the air, tangled in each other’s arms and legs. And women are electrifying men’s nipples at their request.

The Butcher (Jason Isaacs) then crashes his pad the morning after with his bulldog, Terror. He throws O.D. back in his chair. (I’ll admit, at this point, Isaac’s accent is so thick, I can’t tell what he is saying half the time.) He goes through O.D’s entire roster of customers. That includes The Great Wide Wonder (Michael Cera).

You see, O.D. sells traditional drugs to everyone except the Great Wide Wonder. He takes heroine enemas. (You read that right). Butcher tells him the next time he sells to him, he must give him Butcher’s concoction that will kill him. They meet at a rally and watch a PR representative introduce Jack from Jupiter, Kevin Michael Richardson), Maeve (Dominique McElligott), and Homelander (Antony Starr).

The latter then introduces the Great Wide Wonder. He begins his speech sweating, with bloodshot eyes, and speaking a million miles an hour. He is also sniffling like crazy and scratching his nose. This man does not need a snort of pick me up desperately. He is reacting to that purple s**t the Butcher spiked in his heroine enemas again.

So, why does the Butcher have such a problem with the good old GWW? Because a couple of months back, he took a couple of underage girls up to space with him. For, you know, a good flying f**k, as he calls it. Of course, those temperatures are hundreds of degrees below freezing in space. He didn’t care, though. As far as Butcher knows, the bodies are still up in space, floating around in orbit.

As The Great Wide Wonder deorbits and flies around the city, he reaches Mach 1 and then Mach 2 speed. The problem is he is crashing into buildings and almost taking the crowd’s head off. When he descends and is supposed to fly through the giant metal ring lit on fire, he crashes right through the man holding it, disemboweling him. Wonder crashes into the lake wall, spraying his blood all over the onlookers. What follows is a scene out of The Life of Brian. Everyone begins to throw up.

From there, Butcher, Terror, and Hughie (Simon Pegg) marvel that they took two of them out for the price of one. They leave O.D. crying on a park bench because somehow, he is growing a conscience. (Or is it that he lost two great paying customers?). Either way, Butcher laughs at what has happened and walks off laughing as the screen fades to black.
