Upload season 2, episode 3 recap
As they leave the Poconos on their undercover operation for the LUDDS, Ivan (The Big Bang Theory’s Josh Banday) and Nora (Andy Allo) go over their plan to hire Nora as a game designer. But all Ivan wants to do is “chillax” and put the car seats into sleep mode. Nora, who does not wish to have a bird’s eye view of Ivan’s south of the border body parts, says no.
Nathan (Robbie Amell) has a problem. His mother is broke, and she cannot pay the rent. He still has to play dumb with his memories and has no idea where the money was spent when he sold out his company (or if he ever got it). Unfortunately, making money in Lake View is illegal.
They then come up with an idea. Yang (Riverdale’s Phoebe Miu) is now watching the rich eat in the dining room through a small window. It was made to entice 2gig’s residents so their families would upgrade them. Nathan steals two gigs from Mr. Choak after waiting for the penguin he ordered. When did they start to distribute gigs to different 2gig residents? Does a man wonder who Robin Hood could be? In the season premiere, we saw the cyber cop, Detective Sato (The Man in High Castle’s Hiro Kanagawa).
Meanwhile, the robots are having all the fun. The robotic toilet that Ingrid (Allegra Edwards) has tells the woman she hired to pretend to be in the sex suit not to wear it because of a yeast infection. When Nora and Ivan reach the city, they enter his apartment to find the Roomba has on a pair of hot pink panties. Ivan upgraded it to six different sex bot upgrades, including French Maid.
When Nora gets back to work, Aleesha (Zainab Johnson) alerts her to some strange things going on in Lake View. Ingrid, now being controlled by a hired hand, wants to help Nathan and Luke (Kevin Bigley) steal gigs from the rich and give to the poor. She distracts the old guys by walking around them in skimpy workout attire. Nathan does the same thing with the women, showing off the guns, and Bigley’s Luke hilariously pumps up the lady’s desire and Nathan’s self-esteem.
What’s the next step? Nathan and Luke play their versions of Johnny Hooker and Henry Gondorff, inviting Ingrid to help. What exactly? To steal money from the Lake View casino while playing Texas Hold ’em. Nathan places the penknife in her gloves so that he can change the cards. He also hacks Luke’s eyes so he can see his hand. They use Ingrid’s money to buy in, hoping to make enough to upgrade all the 2gig’s.
The ending
They keep winning hand after hand by changing one or two of the cards. When they get to the last hand, Lucy (Andrea Rosen) and Craig discover the penknife is being used on the casino floor. Nathan gets rid of it by placing it in another resident’s pocket. However, that means they cannot use it during the last hand. Playing Mr. Choak, he has a whole house, and they need seven hearts for a royal flush. This happens while Nora is watching, who hacks in, sees the turn card is a Jack of spades. She turns into the winning card, taking home the money and defying the 3% odds to win.
The show ends where Nathan tells Ingrid how much he loves her after his day. This makes Ingrid sad because she is back in the suit, and the real her isn’t good enough for Nathan.
Oh, and Detective Sato finds a tape of Nora running into the building and away from the man who died in the elevator.
