Summary

Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls is a solid reality show that highlights the great work Lizzo is doing behind the scenes.

Amazon original reality series Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls season 1 will be released on the streaming service on March 25, 2022.

I will be frank with all of you that are reading this, I had no clue what I was getting myself into by watching Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls. However, I was excited to venture down this show and share my thoughts with all of you.

It is roughly 21 days until Lizzo performs at Bonaroo Festival and she is looking to add to her crew of dancers. So she brings in 13 girls from across the globe to compete for a spot on her dance team. Each girl had one week to perform two freestyle dances to impress Lizzo, but they also had to perform 30 seconds of big girl choreography. The pressure was at an all-time high, but the reward was very much worth it all. After the solo dances, the 13 girls had to compete in a dance battle to win one of the ten spots available in the house.

At the start of the show, Lizzo announced that there could be a spot for each of these ladies. She and her team would moderate them throughout the process. Like any competition with people living in the houses together, these ladies are starting to find themselves battling amongst each other and battle lines are being drawn.

No matter how you feel about Lizzo, the one thing that stands out the most in watching her throughout this series is that she is a SUPERSTAR. Her personality is big and her presence is known every time she is on the screen, but one of the big things I took away from this was how down to earth she is. Lizzo understands the struggles of big girls putting themselves out into the world and society isn’t exactly accepting of them. However, she wants to change the minds of each and every hater in the world and show them that they fit into the fray. You grow to appreciate the person behind the star and camera. I loved the emotional level of the show that had a huge message behind it all.

Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls has much of the same beats that other reality shows do, but this one felt slightly different with the underlining positive tone that came from it. You watch the evolution of each of these ladies go from rookies to bonafide stars. I found myself really latching onto each of their stories and rooting for them to make it on the squad by the end of the show.
