This article discusses whether there will be a season 3 of the Netflix series Pacific Rim: The Black and its renewed or canceled status.
There are many reasons why Pacific Rim: The Black was an evident success for Netflix. Firstly, animated series tend to be a cornerstone of the streaming services, and secondly, more stories from the Pacific Rim universe felt needed. At Ready Steady Cut, we gave the first season a favorable review, and then in 2022, the second season has received the thumbs up.
There are plenty of stories to be made in the Pacific Rim universe — The Black brings an emotional chord right through the story, following two teenagers who are desperate to be reunited with their parents in a dystopian world. The adventure feels impacts immediately, with the emotional range of the characters impressive. It was no surprise that Netflix renewed the series for a second series.
Will there be a season 3 of the Netflix series Pacific Rim: The Black – renewed or cancelled status
Status: not renewed/cancelled
Unfortunately, Pacific Rim: The Black will not be returning for another series, however, it is not all doom and gloom for the animated series, and we’ll explain why. We are led to believe that The Black is a story arc in an expansive universe. We wouldn’t be surprised if there were another story arc released on Netflix explaining a different story in another part of the universe. If you cast your mind on the Transformers: War for Cybertron trilogy, the creators focused on different story strands. Granted, the strands all link to a bigger story, but maybe Pacific Rim will similarly interlink the stories and bring a new title.
It would make perfect sense for Netflix to continue to own this universe. After all, it’s not aggressively worked on in other TV serial forms.
Either way, we’ll be sure to keep an eye out and keep you up to date at Ready Steady Cut.
