Summary

Spending 400K a month, shopping every day, showing off, and showing up, this series continues to be about the most affluent Asians in LA, and we are all here for it.

Netflix reality series Bling Empire season 2 will be released on the streaming service on May 13, 2022.

The well-loved Netflix original series Bling Empire is back with a welcomed second season, more glamorous than ever. If you haven’t watched this series before don’t worry, you don’t need to have watched season one to catch up or know what’s going on, or enjoy the series. The show is best described as a glimpse into the real-life Crazy Rich Asians story. There is a small circle of affluent Asians in Los Angeles, California and they live life to the fullest, making even the most content people jealous. This reality series follows the lives of a group of wealthy friends as they flaunt their luxurious lifestyles, designer clothes, and party-filled calendars.

Fast cars, fancy clothes, and frivolous spending, there are eight 40-minute-long episodes in total, which makes for a great opportunity for a TV binge. Easily done one day/night. With familiar faces from the first series including Kelly and Andrew, Kim and Kevin, Christine Chiu, and more, we have some new faces to entertain us as well. Sad news for fans, the power couple from season one, Cherie Chan and Jessey Lee, are not featured in this season, but with the growing romance between Kevin and Kim, we might have a new power couple to fall in love with. We do have two new cast members joining, reality star Dorothy Wang and social media influencer and philanthropist Mini Morris who pack a gorgeous punch.

In the first episode, we start off in L.A. with a giant panda, have the stresses of contour week in Paris, family drama, and a lavish, exquisite party held by Mimi and Don, which features a Diamante piano, butterfly dancers, and all-around extravagance. As the episodes continue we get very up-close and personal, not only emotionally but physically too. From personal, romantic drama (sex dolls and rock and roll) to watching the cast get surgery such as threading, this series has a lot to offer and is entertaining from beginning to end.  For example, Kevin and Kim get close after she stands him up, OG cast members question newcomer Dorothy’s intentions, someone might be having a baby, someone might have a secret family, and a stalled wedding plan. There is everything and anything. Next season might need even more episodes.

It is very fun to watch the drama, especially people competing over material things, and sexual tensions. This series is great escapism from our mundane everyday lives. I love the bitchy, gossipy brunch dates, but unlike other reality series, there isn’t a rude or mean agenda behind the cast. They’re all having fun and spending their money. Although they might be dressed in diamonds and gold and sitting around their pools drinking, they still have problems that we all can relate to… or try to relate to.

Overall this series is a good watch. The format in each episode is the same, so all episodes can blend into one, which is great for binge-watching. This series can be mindless entertainment, where you don’t have to actively think or be completely engaged, making it an easy watch. I recommend watching if you like reality television programs, if you are a fan of the first season and/or Crazy Rich Asians. This show influences the “YOLO” way of life. We have one life, live it to its fullest. I’m sure there will be a 3rd season very soon.
