Savage Beauty season 1, episode 6 recap – the ending explained

The finale opens with Don Bhengu annoyed by how he’s viewed in the media. He doesn’t want to have more failures, and he’s afraid that Grace will bring to the public further controversies. Don then tells Zinhle that they will get married. He wants the headline, “Don marries the face of Bhengu Beauty.” Zinhle looks mortified at this plan. Meanwhile, Grace is wondering how to deal with her husband, Don.

Linda believes that Zinhle is behind their downfall and tells Thando that she will look into it deeper. They speak to Grace about it. Grace apologizes to Thanda for the loss of her child. It wasn’t a miscarriage; Grace put a pill in her drink. Linda is furious at this revelation and asks Grace to leave.

Zinhle tells Don that the wedding needs three months of preparation, but Don does not want to give Grace time to spin the story. He gives her an engagement ring to make the proceedings official. He asks her to show it off at the wedding announcement shoot. Afterward, Zinhle tells Bonga that she has a plan to get a confession out of Don. She asks Don if she can have a cleansing before the wedding.

Don visits a spiritualist with Zinhle — the woman tells Don that vengeance is on his path that will soon reveal itself. Don asks for help. He thinks he has a solution and tells Zinhle. Bonga tells Zinhle he has sought an investigator to bring down Don. But when Bonga speaks to a detective, he is shrugged off and threatened. Bonga tells Zinhle he needs to disappear for a while as he has messed up.

Bonga confronts Don himself and tells him he is one of the children he tested his beauty products on, and he reveals his burns. Don tries to play the sympathy card and tells Bonga he does not deserve to be a killer even though he deserves to die. He promises to repent. And then, he tries to take the gun off him. Don leaves the house with blood on his white shirt.

While putting on her wedding dress, Zinhle listens to a voicemail from Bonga, and he sounds panicked, saying he needs to disappear. She heads out to look for him. She finds her brother Bonga bleeding on the floor. Bonga apologizes to her and states Don did this to him. A panicked Zinhle puts him in the car to drive to the hospital, but he dies on the way. Zinhle is distraught — her brother is gone from this world. The revenge mission comes at a cost.

Grace holds a meeting with the board, stating her husband is getting worst — she calls him mentally unfit to lead. She wants to vote for a new head for Bhengu Beauty. She becomes the new CEO of Bhengu Beauty.

Before the wedding, Linda tells Don that she believes Zinhle and Bonga are bringing down the family — she begs him not to marry Zinhle, but he isn’t interested in her theories and demands that she leaves his house.

With her brother dead, Zinhle’s thirst for vengeance is renewed — she applies makeup and lipstick and unravels a cloth to reveal a gun. She meets Don and acts like she’s seducing him. She gives him a drink and insists he downs it in one. After he drinks it, he’s instantly in pain and asks Zinhle to ring the ambulance, believing he has having a heart attack. Zinhle grabs her gun and tells him she’ll call the ambulance under one condition — she wants him to confess how Bhengu Beauty truly started. She reveals the scars.

The ending

Don tells Zinhle that it was all Grace’s idea to test on the street kids, but Zinhle tells him she needs more. He admits to the unethical practices that killed and hurt children. Zinhle then reveals to Don that he isn’t having a heart attack; he’s just high from the drugs. Don tries to attack her, but Zinhle throws him to the ground, hurting him badly. He appears dead at first. Ndu sees Zinhle leaving in a car, and Don is in its boot. As the episode ends, Don’s eyes open up. A cliffhanger for season 2, folks!
