Summary

Jackass 4.5 is exactly what you would hope for. An in-depth look at the behind-the-scenes of what made Jackass Forever great.

This review of the Netflix film Jackass 4.5 does not contain spoilers.

I am a huge fan of the Jackass franchise and was rather excited to find out that Jackass 4.5 was dropping on Netflix. Is it worth checking out? Let’s dive in.

If you are aware of the Jackass franchise, you know that the .5 of their films come out after the movie’s release. They shoot hours upon hours of footage with stunts, jokes, and gags, and some don’t make the cut. That’s the type of stuff we can expect from this one, and most of the time, they are classic.

I was 100% sure the ship had sailed and that we would never make Jackass again.

One of the things that stood out early in the film was that Johnny Knoxville had kept on writing over the last decade even with the idea that Jackass might be done for good. Next, Knoxville breaks down the new characters we met in Jackass Forever. I loved hearing the backstory of how they found each of these new characters and seeing some of the work that led them to be picked.

Johnny and the crew needed to make sure these new characters were going to be able to go toe to toe with them, so they kicked it off with a test stunt, the Hot Sauce Enema. OH, MY GOD, these guys aren’t shy about making you want to vomit out of the gate.

And then it felt like family after that.

Of course, you watch this and you are like, these guys are INSANE. I can’t believe they decide to withstand the pain and agony to get a laugh. Each stunt is over-the-top, like watching the electric eel stunt and thinking, WHO THINKS OF THESE THINGS. But man, it makes me laugh so hard it brings me to tears. I love these guys and this franchise.

Speaking of the franchise, one of the things about Jackass 4.5 and the rest of the .5s is seeing the family-like atmosphere behind the scenes. Everyone shows up on set excited to film, perform their stunts and bring their a-game. Sure they are all busting each other’s balls, but it’s like a family you want to be a part of. I credit Johnny Knoxville for bringing that behind the camera because it shows on camera.

If you are a fan of the franchise and loved Jackass Forever, Jackass 4.5 will not disappoint one bit. They make us fall in love with the new characters while the OGs cemented their places in our hearts. I loved and ate up every single minute of this, and I can’t wait to revisit it. Highly recommend checking this one out.
