This article discusses the Hulu series The Patient, including information about the release date, premise, cast, production, and other details.

The FX/Hulu pairing is back at it again after the MASSIVE success of Under the Banner of Heaven with the upcoming release of The Patient. The limited series is set to take on a serious tone of a serial killer and a therapist. Honestly, this might be the most anticipated series of August.

Will the series have us gripping to our couches? Here’s everything we know about the FX limited series, The Patient.

The Patient release date

The Patient is set to debut on Hulu on August 30, 2022.

The Patient premise

Courtesy of FX, The Patient follows therapist Alan Strauss (Steve Carell) who is held prisoner by a patient, Sam Fortner (Domhnal Gleeson), who reveals himself as a serial killer. Sam has therapeutic demands from Alan to curb his homicidal urges. So in order to survive, Alan must help explore Sam’s disturbed mind and stop him from killing again.

Our opinion of the premise

The premise certainly has a ton of promise. The show is created by the creators of The Americans, which is one of the greatest TV shows ever. We have that, and then we have Steve Carell, a severely underrated dramatic actor. I truly believe this might be one of the year’s best shows.

Is there a soundtrack?

As of right now, no, there is not a soundtrack for the series.

Is there a trailer for The Patient?

Yes! Here it is:

When I first watched this trailer, I was utterly floored. Then, I watched it again in preparation for this piece and was even more floored. The pairing of Carell and Gleeson seems to be PERFECT. Another thing I loved about the trailer is they gave us a lot but nothing at the same time. You see glimpses of the bits and pieces of how these two come together and a little bit of the background of what is ahead, but they leave enough on the table for us to ponder what is ahead in the series. I can’t wait to check this one out.
