Summary

Instant Dream Home doesn’t reinvent the genre, but the 12-hour deadline to alter these houses makes this one a fun and drama-filled watch.

Netflix reality series Instant Dream Home season 1 was released on August 10, 2022.

We have another home renovation show that has dropped on Netflix — Instant Dream Home. Is the show worth a binge? Let’s dive in.

The series takes after its name of “Instant” as they attempt to renovate and transform the family’s entire home in just 12 hours. I am intrigued by this concept alone because that is not much time for what they are trying to accomplish.

A genuinely crucial thing about any reality show is the host. If you don’t have a good host, it holds back the show. For Instant Dream Home, they had a perfect host in Danielle Brooks. She has the ideal spunk and personality that meshes well with the people and the workers.

My favorite episode was episode 4, “9 is Enough,” which highlighted a family of NINE (slow down, folks). How they renovated this one with not the biggest of spaces was incredible. They alter these people’s lives in a way that they will be able to live with some more space.

I will be honest, I’ve seen about a trillion of these reveals, but certain ones (including the first episode, “Baby on Board”) get me in my feels every single time. The genuine responses to these changes that help these families change their living arrangements are so beautiful to watch. Although I still want someone to see the changes and be like, “this is ugly, what did you do?”

I mentioned that the premise of the entire show revolves around this team renovating the house in 12 hours. Because of this, it adds more intrigue to what we are used to seeing in these types of shows. Another thing it does is adds a layer of drama because they don’t have a bunch of time to delay anything, so if they are battling weather, they have to push forward. With them facing these obstacles, it does make each episode worth watching.

Overall, if you are like me and watch all of these home remodeling shows, you will enjoy Instant Dream Home. However, if you aren’t typically a fan of these types of shows, it is an easy skip for you.
