This article discusses (or speculates) whether there will be season 2 of the Netflix K-Drama series Cafe Minamdang and its renewed or cancelled status.

As Netflix continues to expand its coverage of Korean content, Monday and Tuesday has seen the airing of the unique crime comedy thriller Cafe Minamdang. Based around a shaman and a detective’s quest to take down prolific criminals in the hopes of ultimately finding the person pulling all the strings, this K-Drama has provided a welcome freshness to weekdays. It may not be Netflix’s most prominent currently airing show, with the likes of Extraordinary Attorney Woo grabbing a lot of the headlines at the moment, but it has undeniably provided viewers with plenty of entertainment over the last couple of months.

Based on the webtoon Minamdang: Case Note by Jung Jae-han, Cafe Minamdang season 1 finishes on August 23, 2022, so fans will now be wondering what happens next and if there could be room for a second season.

Will there be a season 2 of the Netflix K-Drama series Cafe Minamdang – renewed or cancelled status

Status: TBC/not renewed

So far, there is no confirmation that there will be a season 2 of the K-Drama series Cafe Minamdang. This doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise, given that the story looks to be wrapping up, and a large number of Korean shows tend to stick to a single-season format. But you can never really say never until it’s official. Plus, with more and more Korean shows being picked up for further installments, it’s hard to truly tell whether this is the last we see of the Minamdang crew, especially if the demand for a return begins to pick up.

With that being said, we would still say that the chances of a second season are low. Despite fairly solid ratings, it does appear like the story cannot and will not extend further, with most of the loose ends already on their way towards being tied up. Though with generally high scores given by Ready Steady Cut to the show (it averages four stars), we wouldn’t be disappointed should they find a way to progress things beyond these 18 episodes.

As always, we’ll keep you up to date here.

You can stream Cafe Minamdang exclusively on Netflix.
