WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS

Fullmetal has to fight Envy at the end of the movie, and it comes full circle. Whoever is left comes together to fight him and his team. Different alchemists take different forms at the end of this, and again the CGI is very questionable because this is 2022. Gluttony is the one who ends up swallowing Envy and Fullmetal because of Fullmetal’s sacrifice.

And Fullmetal’s brother is begging for the alchemist to let them out. There are cool concepts in this movie, especially in the end, but the special effects make it so hard to watch. After he swallows both of them, we see that they are both in the depths of darkness in this weird water. As Envy, Lin, and Fullmetal explore the depths they fell into, they realize that they are stuck.

They don’t know what to do. After going back and forth about what their father told them and what they believe in, they finally come to terms with what they know versus what they think it could be.

They believe that it is the Portal of Truth that their father told them about. Envy believes that this is the space between realities that they can’t even understand. The three of them have no idea what to believe, so they end up arguing with each other, and it ends in a fight.

Envy and Fullmetal have had enough of each other. Envy ends up transforming into a different beast entirely, and Fullmetal must brace himself to fight the monster in front of him. The CGI doesn’t do much to make him menacing.

Right before you think there will be a final face-off, the screen goes black, and a “to be continued…” graphic comes on the screen. The fight in Gluttony’s stomach or the Portal of Truth will have to wait until the next installment. It does have a decent cliffhanger because of the build-up at the end of the movie. For those who are fans of the series, they know exactly what is coming next, and for those who aren’t, it’s good enough to hold them over.
