This article discusses 5 reasons to watch the Netflix documentary series Sins of Our Mother (2022) and does not contain any spoilers.
As will be apparent to anyone who even just watches Netflix now and again, the streaming site is big on its true crime stories. Well, the latest one is here, and it looks like it’s going to be ace. But don’t just take my word; read the five reasons below as to why you should check Sins of Our Mother out!
5 Reasons to Watch Sins of Our Mother
Reason 1: A fascinating true story.
“Lori Vallow was known to friends and family as a devoted mother of three, a loving wife, and a woman of God. But over the past three years, something went very wrong: Now Lori is in jail, waiting to stand trial for conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of her fourth husband, her fifth husband’s wife, and her two youngest children. For the first time, Lori’s surviving son Colby steps forward to provide exclusive insight into his family’s backstory as well as their present-tense narrative as Lori faces justice. At the heart of this three-part series is a single burning question: how did a seemingly normal woman become the most notorious mother in America?”
Based on the premise alone, this sounds like it could be one of Netflix’s best documentaries. This true story is wild, and without seeing a single second of the show, I’m already very excited to see what the show could tell us about the case.
Reason 2: Truly feels like this could happen to anyone.
One of the main reasons that the show stands out is down to its horrifying yet tragic story. Whilst the case itself is obviously very unique and not like anything most of us will ever go through, it’s the home videos and personal interviews that make it feel much closer to home. With an up close and personal view of Lori’s home life, the show definitely brings much closer insight into her life.
Reason 3: Short but worthy watch.
With just three episodes, the show will be a breeze to binge through. Most people are able to dive through several episodes in one night, so the ability to watch all three episodes in one go will be no problem.
Reason 4: A killer question at the heart of the show.
“How did a seemingly normal woman become the most notorious mother in America”. It’s a short question. But god, is it horrifying. It’s unlikely that anyone will feel remorse for Lori, but just how she went from living a normal life to becoming a serial killer is going to be one of the main factors why people watch the documentary. Lori is a monster, and there’s no question about it. But just how she got to that level is going to be interesting and startling to see.
Reason 5: It follows Netflix’s winning formula.
Finally, much like many of Netflix’s top documentaries, it has home videos, in-person interviews, reenactments, and key figures from the events retelling their story. This has proven to be one of Netflix’s biggest sellers. It’s a no-brainer that this will likely result in the streaming site’s next big hit.
