This article discusses the ending of the Netflix film Jumping from High Places and will contain spoilers.

Synopsis as described in my Jumping from High Places review

Jumping from High Places (original title: Per Lanciarsi Dalle Stelle) is a Netflix original feature written by Alice Urciuolo and directed by Andrea Jublin. The movie is set in the stunning Apulia region, in southern Italy, and it stars Federica Torchetti (who you might remember from The Catholic School) as Sole Santoro, a young woman suffering from debilitating anxiety. Sole’s mental health issues are preventing her from living life to the fullest. When former crush Massino (Lorenzo Richelmy) returns to town, he delivers a long-overdue letter left by his sister, Emma, who also happened to be Sole’s best friend, before she tragically died in an accident. The letter acts as a catalyst for our protagonist to write a list of things she’s afraid of such as swimming, traveling and getting a job, and to start conquering them one by one.

Jumping from High Places ending explained

By the end of Jumping from High Places, Sole achieved most of all the tasks on her list with support from her friends. She also realized her infatuation with Massimo was just that, a childish crush. When he finally tried to kiss her at her birthday party, she rejected his advantages in exchange for keeping their long-term friendship as is. On the romantic front, she meets up with Danio and they share their first kiss. She proves how far she’s come on her journey by watching someone jump into the ocean from a high hill. Previously, she couldn’t even bear looking at other people taking risks.

Sole completing her list means it’s about time for her to make some real changes to her life. She adds another sheet of paper to Emma’s original letter and boldly writes “Rome” on it, before planning to move in with three girlfriends in a Rome apartment. There’s no plan here, yet it seems like this is what she needs to do. As the car drives Sole towards new beginnings in the capital, those she left behind each open a parting gift. Our protagonist shared her drawings with everyone she knew in her beautiful hometown – thus completing the list.
