Summary

It is filled with confusion because we truly believe that Ji-hyo knows what she sees, but the Father is also making interesting points. It’s hard to understand why the Father created this church and fabricated everything in order to hurt as many people as he can through faith.

The Netflix Korean drama, Glitch is an interesting sci-fi series that explores UFOs, cults, and religious beliefs. Hong Ji-hyo (Jeon Yeo-been) comes from a rich family. She has a steady job, obtained through family connections. One night, her boyfriend of four years suddenly disappears. As she goes in search of him, she tries to uncover the truth behind a mysterious secret with the help of a community of UFO watchers, including Heo Bo-ra (Jin-Ah Im).

In this episode, Youngi and Ji-hyo head back to the clinic. During the memorial service when the “Messiah” shows up, the crowd is in awe, and she is able to say whatever she wants. They do believe her, but the Father has other ideas for her.

In this episode, Youngi and Ji-hyo devise a plan to get into the funeral. The cult leaders and missionaries all prepare for the funeral. They end up giving Seo more labour to do because she betrayed them. Younsou is there and she looks up to the sky because she feels the presence of the aliens and knows what is about to happen.

After everyone got attacked at the diner, Chanwoo was in the hospital. So in order for Bora to find the location of Ji-hyo, she had to open his cellphone. Bora lifted his eyelids and used face recognition on his phone to text Seo. She tries FaceTime him but Bora declines immediately and cleverly find a way for her to send the location.

The missionaries have been handing out drugs to everyone that walks into the funeral to prepare them for the divine light. Mass murder will happen when they all take drugs at the same time. Ji-hyo asks Youngi if they all believe in her as the “Messiah” and that they will believe anything she says. She may have the power to sway them when she gets the chance.

Ji-hyo shows herself to the crowd and quickly says that she is resurrected. The Father is on stage looking confused, but then once Seo jumps in to prove that she is the “Messiah” the crowd is entirely behind her. Ji-hyo forces the Father to speak in front of everyone because she has nothing to hide. Bora also shows up at the funeral and tries to record everything.

Bora finds out that the “Messiah” has risen so she knows that Ji-hyo will be kept alive. Bora’s friends find her as well and go to help them. The detective and Seehee both find out everything last and make their way to the memorial service as well. The Father takes Ji-hyo into a private room while recording her for everyone to see. He tells her about the church, how it was created and what they actually do.

He calls her a fraud and that she really isn’t the “Messiah”. Ji-hyo challenges the Father with her broken memory after being resurrected to counter his accusations. He goes on to say that the alien encounter is just called the light just to make the story more accurate. He says that he will take on the chip from her and that he will be the one to tell them about the light. He suggests taking her place and performing the ceremony because he knows more than she does.

The ending

Bora breaks into the room where they are holding Ji-hyo but doesn’t go with her and the guards escort her out. The Father finally tells Ji-hyo to do as she wishes because he already knows that when she says anything, they will all take the drugs and it will be her fault. As Bora leaves, she notices the light and heads back to the memorial service.

This episode is filled with confusion because we truly believe that Ji-hyo knows what she sees but the Father is also making interesting points. It’s hard to understand why the Father created this church and fabricated everything in order to hurt as many people as he can through faith.
