This article discusses the possibility of Alice in Borderland season 3 and the Netflix series’ renewed or canceled status. It contains spoilers for the first two seasons.

Based on the Haro Aso manga seriesAlice in Borderland has given Netflix perhaps the closest thing to a live-action anime that’s humanly possible. Across two seasons, one in 2020 and a follow-up in the dying days of 2022, the show has been an impeccably-constructed, exciting, and brutal adventure across a land of deadly games themed around Lewis Carroll’s literary classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

The eagerly-anticipated second season was a tremendous ordeal for all of the characters. Here’s some setup from our review:

The second season elevates this concept by pitting Arisu (Kento Yamazaki), Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya), Chishiya (Nijiro Murakami), and others against face cards, the Kings and Queens of Clubs, Hearts, Spades, and Diamonds, essentially “boss” characters who control more complex, deadlier games and participate in them themselves. The games remain very clever in their structure and execution, being not just all-out physical challenges but also more cerebral puzzles that challenge the characters’ understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the world of the show itself.

After the ending of Season 2, many fans are wondering about the show’s potential future. Here’s everything we know.

Will there be an Alice in Borderland season 3?

At the time of writing the show hasn’t been officially renewed, however it seems pretty likely that we’ll be having more adventures in Borderland.

There is still more of the manga to adapt, and the latest season’s finale didn’t close the door on a potential continuation. In fact, it cracked it open a little wider with the final shot resting on a Joker card, implying that the games were still afoot even if our characters didn’t necessarily realize it.

The show is also a huge hit for Netflix and taps into that crucial Japanese market — you know how much the streaming giant loves those watch hours and that global subscription revenue.

With all this in mind, we predict that Alice in Borderland will be renewed for a third season.

How many seasons will there be of Alice in Borderland?

Netflix have not yet confirmed how many seasons there will be of Alice in Borderland. However, with its popularity, we would not be surprised if there were at least three seasons. Maybe four if the watch hours keep racking up.

Alice in Borderland season 3 release date

Fans had to wait for two years for the second season of Alice in Borderland. However, this was mainly due to pandemic production delays. If Alice in Borderland season 3 is greenlit, we’d expect it to come to our screens by December 2023. The last two seasons came out in December too.

Alice in Borderland season 3 cast

After the events of season 2 and the ending, we will be hesitant to suggest that many of the main characters will return for season 3. However, there’s a lot of chaos in this story, so we will keep our cards close to our chest until we hear something more concrete. We expect familiar faces to return for the cast, but who is still unclear at the moment.

In my point of view, I feel like there is going to be a third and last season of Alice in Borderland. The ending of season 2 showed that there was a joker card lying on the table that implies the fact that they had woken up from almost dying is just a hallucination and that no one can return back to the real world. They had all died and that is their permanent residence (Borderland). The winners gets to make games once they finish all the games, including the joker.
